Second Floor Common Room, Monday Afternoon

Bowl of cereal in hand, Andrew flopped down on a couch and turned on the television. He flipped through the channels, finally landing on an episode of Dirty Jobs.

"Oh, Mike," Andrew said aloud, "I do so appreciate you reassuring me that life isn't that bad." He could always be working in a waste water treatment plant.

He sighed and tugged on his shorts. Going commando wasn't nearly as comfortable as he thought it would be.

"You're a very stern fellow," he observed casually. "Not that there is anything wrong with that. I can appreciate a certain level of... sternness."

"Are you saying I have no sense of humor?" Worf asked... sternly.

"I wouldn't say that," he replied, cocking his head to the side. "I bet you have a terrific laugh." He just wasn't so sure how to find out.

That earned Andrew a small smirk.

"So, I've heard."

"Do you know any jokes?" he asked, completely innocently.

Worf paused for a moment. "I do not tell jokes," he said gruffly. "I am here to study. Not be a comedian."

"But what do you do for fun? You can't just study all the time." Well, you could, but that would just be wrong.

"I am a warrior," Worf replied. "There is no time for... antics."

"Oh, a warrior!" Andrew was intrigued. "So you can teach me some self-defense?" He was trying pretty hard to put what he had heard on radio about Ino and the mouse out of his mind, but he was still worried.

"Training to be a warrior is not something to be taken lightly," Worf said gruffly. "And it is not easy. Would you commit to such a training regimen?"

Andrew rolled up his shirt sleeve and poked at his tiny arm muscle. He was a bit of a coward, he knew it, and an admitted weakling. "Do think there's any hope for me?"

"You assume brute strength is the most important asset in a fight," was Worf's stern response. "I believe you humans have a saying that size is not important?"

"Size matters not!" Andrew said, repeating part of one of his favorite quotes from Space Battles.

The didn't really think it through. "My crude matter and I will totally commit to learn how to be a warrior."

Worf had never seen Space Battles. Probably never will, so he takes Andrew's statement as it should be. One speaking with wisdom and a desire to be a warrior.

"Then it is agreed," Worf said with a nod. "You will join me at Wellspring Arms for training."

Andrew wondered if the sinking feeling in his stomach was a bad sign. "Okay," he agreed. "Any day but Wednesday works for me."

He was so going to regret this.

"I am there most days," Worf agreed gruffly. "What day is best for you?"

"Tomorrow would be fine. Thursdays are pretty open as well." He wondered how much this was going to hurt. Maybe Worf had a gentler side that only comes out when he teaches. Andrew would cling to this hope.

"Tuesday morning then," Worf said with a nod. "A girl by the name of Alice will be joining us."

"G-great," Andrew said, forcing a little optimism. "I'll see you then." He was so going to get his butt kicked by a girl named Alice.
