Second Floor CR, Tuesday Night

Ella needed to mend the blouse she had torn the week before, but she was too bored and restless to stay in her room. She took it and her little sewing kit out to the common room and perched on the couch, frowning at her needle and thread. The fact she knew how to sew from her time at finishing school didn't make it any fun at all.

[OOC: Ooooopen.]

Blair was passing by and saw Ella. She decided to come in and make herself comfortable.

"You sew?"

There was no judgement there. Blair was merely gathering information.

"You need new clothes," Blair told her, ignoring the hello since they were already talking and therefore clearly beyond that stage. She looked Ella over. "We're not the same size, but I can probably get my hands on some samples that might fit you. Do you do tailoring?"

[identity profile] gameknowsgame.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
"I suppose we could get a tailor too if needed," Blair said. "But you do do mending?"

"It never hurts to have someone you trust in case of couture emergency," Blair said. "Not that you'd wear the same outfit twice, but still..."

[identity profile] gameknowsgame.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Mostly parties and events," Blair said. Granted back home those were everyday. "You wouldn't want to rewear an outfit that made the society pages. That's a sure way to never make them again."

[identity profile] gameknowsgame.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Exactly," Blair said. "You might as well give up right then and there. Move to some other country and don't bother coming back."

[identity profile] gameknowsgame.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Don't even go out in public," Blair said. "Spare us all the agony."

[identity profile] gameknowsgame.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't know anyone who could pull it off," Blair said. "Not even me, but of course I wouldn't be caught dead in those circumstances."

[identity profile] gameknowsgame.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Around here that could happen," Blair admitted. "I'm not sure that would fly back on the Upper East Side."

[identity profile] gameknowsgame.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Probably not the kind of fairies you're thinking of," Blair told her. "Slinking is the more traditional option."

[identity profile] gameknowsgame.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Ours look like very fabulous people and they can do magic with fashion," Blair said.

[identity profile] gameknowsgame.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
"We'll fix that," Blair said. Because she wasn't going to have people around her who weren't fashionable.

[identity profile] gameknowsgame.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
"I haven't been," Blair admitted. "I suppose we could take a look sometime."

It was rare that Pride turned out to be as loud and annoying as his mother had been, but, tonight, he must have been in a bit of a mood and was keeping Adah from properly relaxing. A bit reluctantly, she moved toward the common room, rabbit cradled and curled like a ball of fluff in the crook of her good arm and, when she got to the common room, she awkwardly but relatively easily, bent in a little to set him down on the floor. Let him run around like crazy in here; she didn't care if he chewed on anything here, and maybe he'd wear himself out by the time he'd had his fun expending himself so she could sleep well enough tonight.

Fat chance, though, which was why Adah was going for the cupboard for a cup of tea while Pride hopped across the floor with random abandon. The people already in the room got a bit of a hike of her chin in a vague sort of greeting.

[identity profile] ecirpnellehada.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
With Adah as an owner, Pride wasn't exactly used to joyful exclamations in response to him. Thrown books, maybe, but rarely sounds. He jumped quite a bit, skittering away behind the television set, and only tentatively peeking out a moment later.

And then, as if remembering his name, he hopped back out with his head lifted, nose twitching, as if pretending that no such skittering occurred.

Adah watched it all with her amusement plainly clear in her crooked face, a mug dangling from her good hand, and she nodded a little in response.

[identity profile] ecirpnellehada.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Pride hopped forward just a little bit more, just slightly out of the girl's reach, and there he stayed, head still lifted. Clearly indicating that, yes, of course, she could pet him, but that was the most effort he was making on the deal, and he certainly hoped she'd felt privileged for the chance.

The whole thing had Adah snorting. "He," she informed the other girl. What? Couldn't she tell by that alone?

[identity profile] ecirpnellehada.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
The rabbit's ears twitched a little with impatience; he didn't have all day. He was in the big room, and there was hopping to be done!

"Adah," she offered, a bit reluctantly, but the days of not talking were going to pass for good once she left for Emory, so she'd better get used to it. She could still keep it simple and short, though. She gave a jerk of her head toward the rabbit. "Pride," she offered, turning a bit toward the cupboard to finish getting her tea ready.

[identity profile] ecirpnellehada.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
That was it? Pride was loftily disappointed. For a few moments, anyway, before he wen and hopped off again to explore behind the couch.

"I generally don't tend to meet people much at all," Adah commented with a slight shrug of her good shoulder while her hand busied itself with preparing the tea.

[identity profile] ecirpnellehada.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Adah grinned lightly, shaking her head a little. It wasn't that difficult to figure that out. You simply didn't talk to people and stayed in your room; common sense. Nothing worth wasting words on, so Adah didn't say anything. The kettle started to whistle and she lifted it from the range, turning toward Ella and tilting her head slightly in question as she held it up. Tea?

[identity profile] ecirpnellehada.livejournal.com 2008-06-18 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
With a slight nod, Adah set the teapot back on the stove so that she could get another mug; she placed it on the counter so that she could them pour the tea. Back to the range with the pot to pick up the tea cup and turn, holding it out for Ella. The other girl looked good, healthy and whole. She could be the one to move to get her tea.

And Adah had just finished looping her fingers around the handle of her mug when Ella asked; she sighed a little in a slight bit of annoyance. True, she could have just said what it was, but there was a big difference in agreeing to speak more freely and wasting unnecessary words. Her fingers unraveled away from the handle, reaching for the tin of Ceylon tea and setting it on the counter, shifting it so that the label could be clearly read from where Ella was.

Her fingers made another reach for her mug.
