Gym; Monday Morning.
Last week was an awful week, for many things, but, most importantly, for Cal's workout. He barely managed to get anything in that respect done so, that morning, despite the urge to just crawl right back into the bed because he could have sworn he saw glaciers in the distance when he looked out his window, he headed down to the gym to break the small sway of laziness that had overtaken him. A good deal of stretching and a small run on the treadmill before he went to his precious weight routines, intending to stay at them for a good long while, especially since, this week, he wouldn't have to stop to get to his workshop.

"I'm not sure about this new place, though. It doesn't look like there are many natives to talk to," Hoshi added. She was going to need something to take her mind off her disappointment over Michael and Ino.

Or was it the north pole that had penguins? Cal had no idea.

She sighed. "I'm not thinking straight today," she admitted. "It turns out that my date from Valentine's Day is dating one of my friends, and while I knew it was coming, I'm kind of disappointed."

He wrinkled his nose sympathetically. "Ouch. Sorry about that, Hoshi..."

...well, that just opened up a whole can of worms that Cal really didn't need to be thinking about right now. "But one can assume that to be true, yes."

You couldn't even make up irony this rich. He wondered what he should say, if he should attempt to pump up her self-esteem or just admit that, yup, the world sucks, might as well become a hermit.
"Aw, I'm sure you'll find someone," he said, going with option A. "You're a cute girl, you seem pretty smart, it's just a matter of time, I'm sure."

"No kidding?" he asked. "Mine, too."
Which he knew from Hoshi's perspective probably just sounded like a cute joke. It was true, of course; it's just that he thought he was a girl at the time.
He was also about seven, but it still counted.

Or, perhaps, very clever excuse? Cal's mind settled on just how easy it might be to get away with some things around here. I don't know what got into me; it must have been Fandom Weirdness...

Which, if she thought about it further, was also a great excuse for a lot of things.

There was a slight pause.
"And if that happened here...she anyone I'd know?"
