Sure it was cold outside due to the whole Antarctica thing. But the joy of climate controlled dorms was that Dick could put on shorts and a Hawaiian shirt and drag a patio umbrella along with some beach chairs (don't ask where he got them) into the common room to pretend it was still nice and warm.

He was also drinking soda out of a coconut-shaped mug. He was committed to the lie.

"Hey, if you want to go back and get it, I'll be more than happy to save your seat," Dick said.

"You'd better. I really don't want to lose this spot," said Hoshi with a smirk.

She ran upstairs, then returned a few minutes later in her bikini.

"Welcome back. A couple kids tried to take your seat, but I chased them off," Dick said.

"Thanks," said Hoshi, getting comfortable in her beach chair. "So, are you new around here? I don't remember seeing you around."

"I came in at the beginning of summer," Dick said. "Dick Grayson. I think we had Arts and Crafts together last session."

"Hmmm. I'm sure I must have seen you, but you don't look familiar," said Hoshi, shrugging it off. "I probably wasn't paying attention, I guess. I started working on this translation while we were in Santorini and kind of blocked out everything else until I was done. I'm Hoshi Sato, by the way."

"I usually like to think that I'm hard to ignore, but as long as you have a good excuse, I think I can forgive it," Dick said. "So what was the translation all about?"

"It was either about the lost city of Atlantis or a recipe for tzatziki," said Hoshi. "The dialect was a really obscure one."

"Maybe it was about an Atlantean recipe for tzatziki," Dick suggested.

"I'm sure the Atlanteans needed cookbooks too," said Hoshi.

"Probably something that's not seafood, too," Dick said.

"That's not seafood, is it?"

"Nope," said Hoshi. "Tzatziki is that sauce that they use on gyros, but it also works as a dip."

"And now I'm learning things even though this week's a break," Dick said. "Thank you for that."

"You're welcome," said Hoshi with a smirk. "I'll be cooking upstairs at the fourth floor common room every night this week, or you can catch me at the hotel on Thursdays."

"At this rate I'm going to have to demand that you get your own cooking show. And if you do, just remember that the bikini equals ratings."

"Unfortunately, you don't get to see the bikini under the apron," said Hoshi. "But I'll keep that in mind. Actually, I never saw a lot of television before I got here, so I might have to check out some of those shows."

"That would be a shame," Dick said. "But Food Network. It's a whole channel devoted to that stuff. It's entertaining if you like to cook or if you're hungry."

"I think I've seen that before," said Hoshi. "The chef at the hotel watches it sometimes. He keeps yelling about someone named Wolfgang."

"That would be Wolfgang Puck," Dick said. "Unless he also really hates classical music."

"So this Wolfgang Puck is on the Food Network?" said Hoshi.

"Probably," Dick said. "I don't actually watch it ever, but he's a famous chef so it stands to reason."

"No wonder Gunther hates him, then," said Hoshi. "I'll definitely check out his show, then."
