Second Floor Common Room, Tuesday evening

Sure it was cold outside due to the whole Antarctica thing. But the joy of climate controlled dorms was that Dick could put on shorts and a Hawaiian shirt and drag a patio umbrella along with some beach chairs (don't ask where he got them) into the common room to pretend it was still nice and warm.

He was also drinking soda out of a coconut-shaped mug. He was committed to the lie.

"It's all about setting the right mood. This stuff helps you think warm, and if you can think warm, you should be able to feel warm," Dick said. "And having the heat on in the room helps, too."

"T-There's no pool though," she noted, smilingly. "Which makes at l-least some of the s-setting r-rather useless."

"Everyone's stuck on the pool..." Dick said, shaking his head with a grin. "Think of it this way: if I set up in the pool, I wouldn't have the company that I have right now. Unless you were going to the pool for some reason."

That got a quick but vehement shake of her head. "I w-wasn't," she said. "It j-just, the b-beach chairs, d-don't you think they'd go b-better with a pool?"

"They might, but I'm willing to settle for a little less ambiance to get a little more company," Dick said.

Hinata smiled. "A-As long as b-bathing suits aren't m-mandatory, I don't mind being c-company. H-How have you been?"

"Bathing suits are encouraged but not mandatory," Dick confirmed. "I've been pretty good. I think I'm pretty well adjusted to this place now." He looked around the room, then out the window. "Obviously."

"A f-few months is a g-good period of t-time to adjust to," she said, with a bob of her head. "A-And t-there'll be no bathing s-suits from me. It w-was embarrassing e-enough for class."

"That's the joy of Summer in the Common Room. You don't have to do anything embarrassing unless you want to," Dick said. "I definitely recommend avoiding the embarrassing stuff, though."

"It's a r-recommendation I'll f-follow," she said. "V-Very sensible."

"I like to think so," Dick said. "So how've you been? Enjoying the time off?"

That got a slight shrug. "It's t-too much time, to b-be honest. I'm u-used to b-being busier. But I've b-been well."

"Sorry to hear it hasn't been better," Dick said. "At least we'll be back to the grind soon, though, right?"

"I've b-been enjoying i-it," she tried to explain. "I'm j-just not used to it, that's a-all. I w-went and w-watched the seals this m-morning."

"Really?" Dick asked. "Did you get a good view?"

"T-They're all o-over the b-beach," she said, with a soft laugh. "T-They'll walk r-right by and n-not be s-scared."

"I'm going to have to check that out once I'm done thinking myself into a warm place," Dick said.

"It's w-worth braving the cold f-for." She tucked her hands into her jacket. "It was quite l-lovely really."
