Fightin' Fox Campfire; Thursday Evening.
The more she thought about it, the more Adah realized that, while she mourned the loss of her privacy, she really rather liked the cabins. She kept to herself enough that privacy was never really an issue; it came rather naturally around her. Everything was on the same level, which made going from one place to another a bit easier. And then there was the pride she took in her ability to step outside and get a fire going, literally single-handedly, and then she could sit close enough to it to catch enough light but not too much heat to read Poe by. Poe was always best read by firelight, after all, or drunk, but she didn't exactly feel like drinking right now. Just a quiet evening, reading The Imp of the Perverse backwards ("Confession! Open! Make to enough, fool, not be I. If , yes, safe am I, safe am I, thus them remodelled. I, petulance, of fit, a! In syllables customary, these aloud half murmuring of act, the in myself arrested. I, streets the along, sauntering whilst day one.") while Pride enjoyed the open air of the area, playing games with himself, the flames, and the level of Adah's concern for him by hopping as close as he could without making himself feel too singed.

He thought about hopping away, as well, but this was his territory. If anyone should leave, it should be the cat.

Adah did a surprisingly good job of just watching and not laughing.

For the best, she supposed, since she hadn't decided that if the nuzzling lead to feasting, if she would do anything or let nature run its course.
Pride was, of course, no where near as amused and intrigued as Adah, and very promptly bopped the cat on the top of its head for its very rude and unwelcome intrusion on his personal space.

...Okay, he probably did because he knew he was cute and fluffy, but still! His variety of playing involved seeing how many books he could nibble on until Adah noticed.

Pride could find this acceptable. He pushed up on his hind legs, forepaws tucked up closely against him as he agreed to grace this beast with a mutual sniffing of acknowledgment to assist him in making a better conclusion about him.

He looked toward Adah, then back to the cat.
He was a rabbit, so the most he could do to emote involved a twitching of his mouth, but he was mostly staring at the cat with disbelief, wondering if he was honestly concerned about getting the girl's permission.
And, of course, he wasn't about to ignore the fact that the cat's girl or boy was absolutely no where in sight. Pride shook his bunny ears before hopping back around and continuing forward into the evening.

"...Hairless one?" she asked, her attention back to the boy. "Kind of ugly? Giant ears and scrunchy face like those naked mole rats?"

Beat.
"Except that he's not ugly." Chad had to frown a little at that.
"You know which way he went?"

And then she turned her eyes back to her book, figuring that settled the matter. Or, at the very least, that it would settle the matter as far as she was concerned and the boy could go find the pets himself if he was so concerned.

Wasn't this that Adah girl who ran that mind-swap experiment? Wasn't she supposed to be...you know...smart?

"Why didn't you watch them? What if they get lost or hurt or eaten by a dingo or something?"

Chad blinked, and realized that he'd kind of forgotten where he was going with all of this.
"Mind if I sit down?"

He picked out the sturdiest looking log, had a seat, and that was that.
