Precocious Ponies campfire, early Saturday morning

Karal was minus his menagerie this morning. Evey and Altra were off in the preserve, Trenor was in the stable where he belonged, and Vashti was sleeping inside.

He was grateful for the solitude, because his conversation with John yesterday had left him deeply worried, and he needed to pray. His head was bowed, his hands neatly folded in his lap, and he couldn't have seen anything even if his eyes had been open.

Which was both a blessing and a curse, because there was a Very Large spider making its way along the ground in front of him.

Very close to his bare feet. So close it was practically on top of his bare feet.

Karal twitched a little as it brushed his toes, and it froze, crouching low. Karal was deep in prayer, and he didn't move again, but the spider stayed where it was.

"Oh definitely," Seely agreed. "With the ribbons all curly."

"Maybe..." Gavin peered at Aravis again. "Bells? Can you attach bells to the ribbons?"

Seely nodded. "Have to warn people she's coming after all."

"Of course," he said, nodding. "And what about a tassel on her tail?"

"Ooooh," Seely said. "With more bells?"

"Of course!" Gavin nodded. "I'd suggest booties for the feet but I dunno if she'd let you put them on."

"Probably not," Seely replied. "But some kind of bracelets, maybe?"

"With...sequins on them?" Gavin asked hopefully.

"Got to have the sequins," Seely agreed. "Otherwise they won't be pretty enough."

"I keep wanting to add more things but she might not be able to move," Gavin laughed.

"And if she doesn't move, less people will be able to see her all gussied up."

Gavin laughed and asked, "You gonna parade her?"

"After all that effort, it seems only right to show her off."

"You're the one that has to live with her when she's back," Gavin laughed. "But, I think there should be background music while she parades."

"I'll just blame the gremlins," Seely said confidently. "What kind of music were you thinking?"

"Something with pomp and circumstance?" Gavin suggested. "Princess music?"

"Pomp and circumstance, but really girl at the same time?"

"Yeah, if there's music like that," he said. "It should be girly but very loud."

"So everyone will know where to find her."

"You could post signs too," Gavin said, just going all out now.

"Have them make an announcement on radio!"

"Ooooh." That was a good idea. "Do you know anyone on the radio?"

"Not off the top of my head, but I'm sure we can bribe someone or something."

"Yeah, I don't think it'd be that hard to have someone slip in a line or two," Gavin agreed. "I mean, it's for their entertainment."
