Main Campfire [Sunday Evening]

Deciding he'd have enough of being cooped up in his alcove, Hannibal found his way out to the main campfire. Once he'd gotten a good fire going, he took a seat against one of the logs and kept a hand loosely on the bug spray he'd brought with him.

The fire seemed to do a pretty good job of keeping the creeping insects away but he was armed and dangerous if they decided to be brave little bugs and sacrifice themselves for the cause.

He had a very plain looking bottle in his other hand but wasn't drinking it just yet.

"I didn't even know there were thirty languages," he said, blinking. "Isn't that kinda boring?"

"Not really," said Hoshi. "After a while, you start to identify patterns that are common in every language. It's like putting together a puzzle, looking at all these pieces of languages until you see the pattern and can start putting the pieces in place."

"Doesn't that make your brain hurt?" he asked after a moment. "Like a headache? Throbbing pain?"

"Not really," said Hoshi. "I've been doing it from a very early age. It's almost like second nature."

"So..." Hannibal paused. "You do that instead of...going out?"

"Well, no one's really asked me out yet, so a girl has to keep busy somehow," said Hoshi with a smile.

"Well, I meant going out in general," he said, waving a hand. "Parties? Bars?"

"I've started doing that more often once I got comfortable here," said Hoshi. "It's not really something I was used to back home. I used to be home-schooled before coming to Fandom, so there weren't many opportunities to socialize. I kind of picked up on languages because it helped me feel connected to people."

"The asking out will come with that," he promised, smiling. "Like dominoes."

"I'll keep that in mind," said Hoshi. "At least it's easier now than when I first got here. So, what made you come to Fandom?"

"A domineering father," he said pleasantly. "Well, and some other things but mostly him."

He wouldn't put the blame on himself, oh no.

"I know how that goes, but it's my mother who is the domineering one," said Hoshi. "Is this place really different from where you came from?"

"Nah, I'm from Earth," he said, shaking his head. "And pretty close to this year, I guess. No past, no future, no alternates, nothing like that. Nothing really surprises me here besides all the abnormal stuff."

"Well, better get used to the abnormal," said Hoshi, smirking. "There's plenty of that here."

"I've been adjusting," he laughed. "I gotta ease into things, surround myself with people that know what's going on and can comfort me when I get scared."

Yeah right, he didn't scared.
