The Roof, Friday Afternoon

[intraspective]

Ino hadn’t accomplished a whole lot so far today.

Well. She’d gotten up at four, eaten and done so properly, left Her a call, and done some training. Now, she was taking a break.

In a way, though, this was training too. She was curled up on a blanket she’d dragged from her room, sprawled out on her stomach, and reading the very first medical scroll she was supposed to have started with.

And humming along with the small battery powered radio she’d brought up too. But that, Ino figured, was allowed so long as she concentrated more on her work.

"Why is that?" Dick asked. "Do you like the view or are you just a fan of heights?"

[intraspective]

"It's, like, the ninja highway," she grinned. "Quicker than the streets."

Dick completely understood that. There could have been a been a nice bonding moment there if it weren't for secrets. "On foot, I guess. But a motorcycle's on the street's even faster than that."

"You've still got to stop for traffic lights though," Ino pointed out. "So I'd say that roof still totally wins."

"You don't have to stop if you're good or crazy enough," Dick retorted. "I consider myself good, not crazy, personally."

[intraspective]

"How does your skill mean you never hit a traffic light?"

That was an honest question, actually.

"Oh, you still hit the lights. You just have to make sure no cars hit you when you're going through them," Dick said. Sometimes you had to ignore the rules of the road to get to a crime in progress.

That got a laugh.

"You ignore traffic lights? Dick!"

"Only when it's important!" Dick said in his own defense.

"Uh huh," Ino grinned at him. "What would you consider important?"

"You know. Things," Dick said. "Running late for something. Not wanting to stop."

She stuck her tongue out at him. "Excellent reasons to get the cops on you, geez."

"What can I say? I hate being late," Dick said.

[intraspective]

Ino rolled her eyes.

"I will laugh if you get stuck in jail for that," she informed him. "Come, sit on the blanket."

"They'd have to catch me first," Dick said as he took a seat. "So, how've you been recently?"

[intraspective]

"Got my hair cut," she said, a bit ruefully. "And went home for a visit. You?"

"Went home for a visit, but my hair's intact," Dick said. "Your haircut's good, though. I'm not just saying that out of sibling duty, either."

[intraspective]

"I've kinda gotten the idea that people like it," she admitted. "But it's nice to hear it still. It's a bit of an adjustment. Good trip?"

"They like it because it's good," Dick said. "My trip went pretty well. I got enough bonding time in with my guardian to tide me over until Christmas, I think, so I can't really complain."

[intraspective]

"Oh, Christmas," she laughed. "I bet you'll have more fun at home than here. Here? It's so boring. No one is around."

"The holidays in Gotham City are always exciting, at least," Dick said. "I don't know about fun, though. I could actually do with some boring stuff around then."

[intraspective]

"I suppose it depends on what your definition of fun and exciting is," she decided.

A beat.

"What's yours?"

"I've mentioned that Gotham's kind of full of really crazy criminals, right?" Dick asked. "Well, this one guy has a habit of taking over TV stations and trying to kill people in ways he finds funny. It's exciting to see how he gets stopped on live TV, though."

[intraspective]

"Seriously?" She blinked at him. "Like, right live on TV? Right then and there?"

"Yeah," Dick said. "He somehow cuts off the feeds from all the local affiliates and hosts his own show. He doesn't do it every year, but it's still a recurring thing. Did I mention that he's always dressed like a clown, too?"
