Fourth floor common room, Monday morning

Dean didn't have any classes today and figured he could start off the term by making breakfast for whoever happened by. And if no one happened by, then there'd just be a lot of food for him to eat.

Really, there wasn't any bad here.

Ben came racing into the room, following by a snapping furry ball. "Um, Dean?"

Dean looked over. "You didn't tell me you had a pet."

"I don't! It was waiting for me when I opened the door," Ben said. "It's not a gremlin, right?"

"Nah. They're taller and less furry and round." Dean looked closer at it. "Huh. That's really odd."

"I thought so," Ben agreed as the little thing snapped its teeth at him. "I'm not for breakfast!" he told it.

Dean looked like he was trying not to laugh. "Can't you just..." He waved a hand, "... y'know do that jedi thing and toss it away?"

Ben nodded and waved his hand. The little ball went flying through the air and smacked into the wall.

...and now there were two of them. "Now what?" Ben gasped.

Dean pointed at a window. "Throw them outside?"

"Let's hope they can't fly," Ben muttered, opening the window, chucking the vicious little beasts out and shutting it again without leaving his precarious perch on a sofa.

He let out a little laugh. "I'm awake now."

"Welcome to Fandom," Dean said. "Breakfast?"

Ben nodded eagerly. "I'm starving!"

"Almost getting eaten will do that to a guy," Dean said, dishing up a plate for Ben.

"It's kind of a family tradition," Ben said, digging in to the food. "Dad almost gotten eaten by a thing that lived in the garbage compactor back on the first Death Star."

Angela arched an eyebrow at the bouncy bitey ball.

"Okay, what is that?" she asked.

"I have no idea, but it doesn't seem friendly," Ben said, still trying to edge away from it.

The ~~vicious circle~~ evil fuzzy thing was having none of it.

"Really doesn't," Angela agreed, watching it with a disturbed look.

"Things like that should not be allowed to have teeth," she decided.

"I totally agree," Ben said, looking around for something to defend himself. "Why do they take our weapons with stuff like this on the loose?"

"In the movies, people use chairs," she suggested, eyes wandering toward a stool from the kitchenette area.

Since she was all tucked up on one of the larger chair already, she was just hoping that it couldn't bounce that high.

"Oooh," Ben said, backing towards the stools until he could reach one. "There should be rally dramatic music playing now," he decided as he poked the legs towards the fuzzy thing.

"Something loud and classical." Angela nodded, a grin growing on her face. "Especially to play up the tense scene where you fight off a little ball of fluff with a chair."

It really was comical when you looked at it.

"When you put it like that, I'm not nearly so heroic," Ben said with an answering grin.

"A very vicious ball of fluff?" Angela tried. It make it sound a little more scary, right?

Ben laughed. "The furry creature of unknown origin?" he tried.

"Sounds like a low budget horror movie I watched once..." Angela said brightly. That was obviously a good sign. To her at least. "I like it."

"And now the hero," and here Ben struck a pose and made "dum da da DUM!" sounds, "defeats the furry creature!"

He poked it with the stool.

The vicious circle formed into two fuzzy things with teeth.

"That...wasn't supposed to happen."
