Second Floor Common Room, Saturday Evening

Tony was determined to understand Much Concern Over Nothing, so he'd rented a copy of the movie. He put the movie on with subtitles playing and had his copy of the play open in front of him to follow along. He paused the movie occasionally to make notes or to rewind it and watch something again.

Not the most exciting way to spend a Saturday night, perhaps, but at least it was unlikely to end with him in the ER.

Seregil on his way out paused in the doorway and watched for a moment. "Homework assignment?" he asked.

"Hey," Tony smiled at Seregil. "Not quite. I'm stage managing this play so I need to know what the hell they're talking about."

"Won't the director tell you that?" Seregil asked as he came over and sat down beside him.

"Maybe," Tony said. "But I don't want to look like an idiot."

"I don't think that's something you have to worry about."

Tony smiled. "Thanks. But seriously?" He flipped through a few pages and read aloud, stumbling awkwardly through the words,
"'The savage bull may; but if ever the sensible
Benedick bear it, pluck off the bull's horns and set
them in my forehead: and let me be vilely painted,
and in such great letters as they write 'Here is
good horse to hire,'" He lowered the book. "How is that supposed to make sense?"

"It's poetry," Seregil said with more interest. "And quite well done as well."

"It's Shakespeare," Tony said, remembering that Seregil was from another world. "You heard of him?"

"There's a few rather large tomes by him in the Book Haven."

"He's supposed to be one of the best writers in the English language," Tony said. "This stuff's over 400 years old." He gestured at the script.

"I did think the syntax was a little archaic compared to what people usually use around here."

"Yeah, no one talks like that anymore," Tony said. He watched Bastiana and Baldovino banter at each other. "It is funny, though," he admitted.

Lola wandered by, pausing when she spotted her roommate.

"Hallo, Tony. What're you watching?"

"Guess that would be why it's still around after 400 years."

"Yeah, it's not so bad," Tony said. He looked over at Seregil. "You ever do any acting?"

"Much Concern Over Nothing," Tony said. "The theater in town's doing the play and I'm going to be stage manager."

Lola tilted her head. "Stage manager? Was ist?"

"Running stuff backstage," Tony said. "Building sets, herding actors, that kind of thing."

Seregil cocked his head to the side. "Of a sort," he said.

[ooc: And the SM in me goes "the stage manager is not a carpenter!" and then remembers all the times she had to build sets while idling around at a rehearsal. . . .]

"Ah!" Lola smiled. "You have done this work before?"

"Sort of," Tony said. "I worked on a TV show this summer. Not totally the same, but similar."

"Like what?" Tony asked, curious.

Lola's eyes widened. "You have worked on TV? Wirklich?"

"I've... ah.... done what I needed to do to blend in when I needed to."

Tony had no clue what "wirklich" meant. "Yeah, this show called Darkest Night. It's about a vampire detective."
