The Gym; Sunday Afternoon.

The temptation to skip his workout today had been strong in Cal, especially since he'd been up fairly early for a Sunday in an effort to put together something for that gallery exhibit. But he knew that skipping it wouldn't do him any good and, by the time afternoon rolled around, he was actually kind of missing it. So he came in, stretched out, and started hitting the weights.

Not literally. Because that would hurt.

Hoshi felt all the blood rushing to her face. "On their n-naked bodies?" she stammered.

"Think of all the space for things to be written!"

And, going against his better judgment, Cal felt the need to add, "Shame no one in the female cast has bigger boobs; that'd be perfect for people with bigger parts."

It was very rare for a linguist like Hoshi to be left speechless, but this was one of those moments. She just stared at Cal without saying anything.

The reaction, really, only made Cal chuckle a little more, hoping that look wasn't one of those pissed off looks girls gave you the second before they told you how much they hated you.

"Sorry," he said, and there was at least a little bit of a sincere light in his eyes as he grinned. "Couldn't help that one."

Hoshi wasn't pissed off, just very flustered.

"Please tell me that you don't use that particular, um, technique on stage," she said.

Cal barely bit back the comment about the fact that he couldn't; he part was way too big. The grin helped keep it down, and the light shake of his head, too. "I don't," he assured her. "I'm just messing with you. I do it the good, old-fashioned, read-until-your-eyes-pop-out way. Get a look at my script on Tuesday, you'll see what I mean. The thing's battered all to hell and back again."

That got a chuckle out of Hoshi. "Okay," she said. "I figure that might be what works best for me anyway. Memorization, I mean."

"And that," Cal said, the cloud of impending female scorn passing and leaving behind sunny skies, "I can still help you with. My offer to go over lines definitely stands. But I'm afraid you'll have to find someone else if you're going the body reading way."

"I don't think body reading is going to work for me," Hoshi was quick to point out. "Just safe, regular, old-fashioned memorization."
