Fifth Floor Common Room, Thursday Evening

Maybe Myn was feeling adventurous, but he was trying to cook. The keyword was definitely trying, since he wasn't entirely sure how to use the equipment provided to him. There were eggs in a pan, cooking quicker than Myn had anticipated, and bits of shell all over the counter - and on the floor.

Flour was sitting open on the edge of the counter, as he had started an effort to make pancakes, but aborted the manuever after managing somehow to get more flour on himself instead of in the bowl.

Help would certainly not be turned away.

"Good to know," Tony said. "Though it seems like half the guys I've met here have offered to cook for me, so I'll probably have other options."

"You're popular," Myn observed. "Guess you don't need a screwup like me cooking for you, anyway." He softened the self-deprication with a smile. "That's much better for your health."

Tony shrugged and grabbed another bite of eggs. "They're edible. I wouldn't count this a screwup."

"Thank you. That makes this week pretty good, then." Myn started cleaning up, throwing eggshells and other flotsam into the trash.

"Not good otherwise?" Tony asked.

"Birthday," Myn said by way of explanation, not looking up from his busywork.

"Oh, I didn't know. Sorry, man. Happy birthday," Tony said.

"It's just another day," Myn said, shrugging. "If it meant something, I would have told people when it was," he pointed out. "It's more that it just reminded me where I should be, instead of where I am."

"Which is someplace not here?" Tony guessed.

"Yeah." Myn took a deep breath as if about to say something, then let it out slowly and shook his head. "I'll tell you about it sometime. Just...not right now." He wasn't ready to talk about Lara, yet. Talon Squadron, maybe, but only in the safety of his dorm room. "I'm sorry."

"No, man, it's cool," Tony said. "Hey, do they have beef jerky and spray cheese where you come from?"

"Jerky, yes...what's spray cheese?" Myn asked uncertainly, not sure if he really wanted to know.

"It's cheese that comes in a can and you can spray it onto stuff," Tony said.

"I think I've heard of it, but I haven't tried it." Myn tilted his head to the side. "What about it?"

"It's good stuff," Tony said. "Just figured you should know about it. No cooking required." And it was easier to talk about spray cheese than awkward personal stuff that Myn didn't want to talk about.

"Looking out for me?" Myn asked, laughing. "Maybe I'll have to try it, sometime." He did appreciate the topic change. He just wasn't mentioning it. It was easier that way.

"I got a couple of cans in my room," Tony said. "You can have one if you want. Goes good on beef jerky."

"I'll take you up on that, I think," Myn said after a moment of consideration. "Maybe tomorrow or another night?"

"Sure," Tony said. "Just let me know."
