5th Floor Common Room, Tuesday evening

With Liir's help, the common room was transformed into a vivid party room. Purple streamers were hung, balloons in every color were tied around, some left loose to pop or kick like some people liked to do (not her, geeze), and HAPPY BIRTHDAY INO! was everywhere.

Music was going and Amber was adding finishing touches to the gift table; little shiny curly things in purple everywhere. Hopefully Ino liked purple. While she was doing that, Liir was busy in the kitchen, getting the food in order and her mouth was watering just smelling some of what he had cooked.

Yay, party!

The cake (http://www.pixiedustcakes.co.uk/pastel_daisies.htm) was the focus of the table, of course, but the rest of the food was just as appetizing.

Chocolate chip muffins (http://community.livejournal.com/food_porn/4877299.html#cutid1), chocolate hazelnut spiced cookies (http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/CHOCOLATE-HAZELNUT-SPICED-COOKIES-242042), honey cake (http://community.livejournal.com/food_porn/4872618.html#cutid1), all manner of fresh fruits cut up, crepes with chocolate and bananas and whipped creame. There were also more traditional treats that he'd gone out and gotten: pretzels and chips and a (http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/BLUE-DEVIL-CHEESE-AND-BACON-DIP-243227) few (http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/CARAMELIZED-ONION-DIP-WITH-CILANTRO-GARLIC-PITA-CRISPS-236164) different (http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/CRUDITES-AND-DIPS-235647) dips.

Also up there were all manner of drinks, colas and lemonades. There were so many things to eat or drink that it was ~~entirely moddable~~ almost too much for the table.

All in all, it was certainly a spread. Brotherly duties had definitely been done.

Hurley showed up, having run out to get a gift for the birthday girl earlier. Silly things like this, taking him by surprise.

Ichigo arrived after spending most of his day flailing about what to get. Things like that just shouldn't sneak up on him. He needed more time so he could call Karin and demand advice.

Amber had a large gift bag full of tissue paper. A lot of tissue paper. There was also a twenty-five dollar gift certificate tucked down inside the bag, for Turtle & Canary.

Yes, Amber knew the gifts she picked out were oddly cute. Ino ought to love them. She hoped.

Hurley left a wrapped package (http://www.rondak.org/LOGOS/chia_pet.jpg) for Ino with a little card signed merely "From Hurley".

Hurley spent much of his time over by the food table.

The dips were delicious.

Ichigo put his present on the table. There was one wrapped box with included a gift certificate for the spa and a lavender eggling (http://www.eggling.com/eggling/index.htm).

"Hey, Hurley!" Amber greeted cheerfully. "I'm so glad you came. The party was so totally impromptu."

"Glad to see you made it," she said when she approached close enough for him to hear her.

Mmm, the chips and dip were so good. Hopefully Amber wasn't hogging it all.

Ino had been listening for the sounds of a party from her room, not wanting to show up while they were still getting ready or anything.

She bounced down the hall, and grinned. "Wow."

Romeo dropped off a plant with a helpful note attached that read, Not for throwing! Happy birthday. - Romeo

Romeo didn't know it was Ino's birthday, but he could hardly skip the party when it was practically in his room. One quick trip to town later, he was back, ready to mingle.

"Ino! Hi! Welcome to your party!"

"I didn't even, like, know she had a birthday," Hurley said. "Well, I mean, everyone has a birthday, just... didn't know it was so soon."

"Hi, Romeo!" Amber grinned wide. "I'm so glad you made it. The party was planned just this morning."

Romeos arm was still in a sling; this meant he could handle a drink or a plate, but not both, and using a fork when standing was out of the question.

Whimpering a little, he took a cookie and nibbled it, hoping someone would offer to help.

"I didn't either until this morning," she admitted. "It's all good. Just... quickly thrown together."

"Then I only heard about it a little late," Romeo answered, smiling. "Did she tell you before that it was her birthday? I talked to her yesterday and it didn't come up."

"Oooh, I like the color scheme," said Hoshi, taking in the decorations.

"No, she didn't," she smiled wryly. "She just told me this morning as I ran into her at the Perk and oh my god how's your arm?" she asked, just noticing the sling.
