Second Floor Common Room, Late Tuesday Evening

After rehearsal, Tony met up with Myn in the second floor common room. "It's better on the big screen," he said, putting in the DVD of Space Battles IV: Fresh Dreams. "But this is a good setup. You cannot live on this planet and not have watched this movie."

"I'm new here," Myn protested, settling in on the couch. "You can't blame me for not having seen it." After having spent the entire day before hiding, it was almost nice to be around people again. At least, someone who hadn't seen the horror that had been the weekend.

"I know!" Tony said. "I'm just explaining why you must see it now." He took a seat on the couch and pressed play, then paused it. "This is thirty years old, by the way. Some of the effects look kinda cheesy now, but you just gotta go with it." He pressed play again.

"I don't think I have the same frame of reference as you do," Myn pointed out. "It might not be too bad." Or it could be incredibly laughable. He was trying to be optimistic, though. "It can't be that bad if so many people like it, right?"

"It's not bad. It's a classic," Tony said. "It's the Hero's Journey."

Myn raised an eyebrow, but smiled. "You're also biased." Still, it seemed entertaining so far.

"Okay, a little," Tony admitted. "It's one of my favorites. Still. Classic."

"The main character is kind of a whiner," Myn said, pulling his legs up onto the couch to sit cross-legged, and resting his elbows on his knees.

"True. He's hot, though," Tony said.

"I've seen better," Myn said with a shrug.

And then flushed scarlet.

Tony looked over at him. "What?"

"Nothing," He said quickly, red to the tips of his ears. "Wow, those are bad special effects."

"I warned you," Tony reminded him.

"You did. And I can see why." It wasn't that bad; it was just a very convenient topic change. "This how old?"

"More than thirty years," Tony said. "Pretty low-tech for you, huh? I mean, all of it."

"Yeah," Myn admitted. "It's not too bad, for what they must have had to work with. Even so, it would be a lot different where I'm from."

"Do you have any of the movies from your home?" Tony asked. "I'd love to see them."

"I don't, but when I report in at the end of this term, I can always ask and see if they'll send me some." Myn tilted his head to the side slightly, thinking, then nodded. "I'm pretty sure Janson would send some."

"That'd be awesome," Tony said. "Technology aside, are they similar? I mean, do you have an equivalent to 'movies' and 'television?'"

"Yes, we do. I don't usually have a lot of time to watch them, but I do when I'm not busy. Especially news holos." Myn eyed the television for a moment, deciding to forgive the moviemakers for their incorrect assumptions about actual dogfighting in space.

"It's nice to know what's going on in the government you're fighting for."

"I bet," Tony said. He watched Myn for a moment. "Why'd you join the military?"

"I was part of my home system's armed forces first," Myn said, choosing his words carefully and toying with the hem of his sleeve. "I was a sniper, but I did some flying too. I guess I just fell in love with flying, and I couldn't imagine doing anything else." He smiled sheepishly, looking back at the TV.

"'Home system?'" Tony asked. "Like, more than one planet?"

"Yes. The Corellian system is made up of several different worlds, but it's named after the actual planet Corellia, which is where I'm from." Myn went quiet for a moment, thinking. "I could actually show you the system sometime, if you'd like. I have the navigational information in my datapad for practicing hyperspace jump calculations."

"Sure," Tony said. "Though I can't promise I'll understand it. I'm used to just the one planet."

"You're doing good, though," Myn said. "You at least seem to believe it's real...or fake it really well."

"I'm great at believing in things," Tony grinned. "I've had practice. It's the scientific stuff I'm weak on."

"Try to think of it like this?" Myn nodded toward the television. "I'm not going to ask you to plot a course from Corellia to Coruscant or anything, don't worry." He couldn't help but grin. "I'm not that mean."

"I'd like to check it out," Tony smiled. He watched the movie for a little while. "Did you go to Homecoming? I didn't see you there."

"I was only there for a little bit," Myn admitted. "The last dance I went to still carries bad memories for me."

They had been good memories, at the time. Now they just hurt.

"Did you have a good time?"

"Yeah, I did," Tony said, smiling at the memory. "I guess I'm kinda seeing someone. If two dates counts."

"It counts if you want it to," Myn said diplomatically, smiling in return.

"Thanks," Tony said dryly. "Hey, I've only had one boyfriend. I'm not exactly an expert here."

"Some people would say it counts, others would say it doesn't," Myn replied honestly. "It only counts if you say it counts, since it's your relationship." He hesitated, then added, "But if they warn you they're going to break your heart, it's best to believe it."

Ino hadn't warned that Andrew would break his heart, so that didn't count, right?

Tony shrugged. "It's not really much yet, I guess. But I'll probably see him again."
