The Range - Girls With Guns [Wednesday afternoon]

Triela, as was her habit, showed up early today. But instead of going over her weapons she quickly became absorbed in the stack of papers she had brought with her.

Don't worry, she wasn't too absorbed to notice people arriving.

Turtle sighed. Heavily. "At least," she said, hopefully, and probably with a great deal of delusion, "if we're going there this weekend, it means she won't be here for Parent's Weekend."

Triela blinked. Wait... "Parent's weekend?"

Turtle nodded. "Yep. Every semester...or is it year?...either way, there's always a weekend for friends and family to come visit and check up on you."

Turtle couldn't help a faint grin. "Yeah," she said. "My parents have been there, done that, so they're thankfully probably skipping this time around."

"Does... does the administration send out the invitations?" Maybe if Triela just pretended she didn't know she could avoid letting Hilshire know about it until too late!

"Most likely," Turtle shrugged. "That's a good chance that the paperwork actually does itself. Kind of like how some people will just show up here, not knowing why, and they're all official and everything. And that would explain how sometimes, siblings or friends show up instead, especially considering how there is a high percentage of parentless students at this school."

Triela just groaned.

"Hilshire..." Then her eyes snapped open in almost-panic. "Or Jean."

Turtle's eyes shifted over toward Triela.

"It's only one weekend," she offered, helpfully. "It'll be over before you know it."

"Small blessings, huh?" She rubbed at her face with both hands.

"Just one weekend," she muttered to herself.

Turtle reached over to give Triela a sympathetic pat on the shoulder.

"I'd offer my closet to you as a place to hide if you wanted, but there's a chance you might never come back."

"It wouldn't work," Triela sighed. "I've got standing orders to report in when possible. Now that I know one of them might be here I don't really have a choice."

She tapped her forehead as if to explain.

"Well," Triela drew the word out musingly. "It probably won't be so bad if Hilshire shows up. We may not get along, but at least he tries."

She sighed, "But if it's Jean... He doesn't really trust me being so far out of supervision for so long. He'll... probably want to test me."

Triela did not like that idea.

Turtle frowned. "Well," she said, "I'll keep my fingers crossed for Hilshire for you."

"Thanks," Triela managed with a laugh.

"And I guess that if Jean shows up, he'll bring Rico with him." That made her grin brightly. "She'd love it here."
