2nd Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

Firekeeper had been less than pleased when she'd shown up to class yesterday only to find out that apparently there were no classes this week. It's not that she didn't mind a break from the routine, it's just that no one had told her about this.

Speaking of routine, it was Wednesday night and that meant Tony's vampire-story would be on the television. Wandering in to the common room, she was surprised to find herself the first one there. Picking up the small rectangle that controlled the television, she pressed button after button until finally she caught sight of a familiar face on the television.

She also went to the kitchen and grabbed some cans of that sweet fizzy drink and a bag of chips. No popcorn, mostly because Firekeeper had no idea how to make it, microwave kind or otherwise.

Curling up on the couch with Blind Seer, she settled in to watch the show, and found herself wondering why some scenes had people clothed completely different from the style that she associated with this world. Someone would have to explain the concept of a 'flashback' to her, sometime.

"Oh," Tony said. "The bit with the music that shows a bunch of short clips with the main characters? That's the credit sequence. Tells who the main actors and producers are."

"Producer?" Firekeeper looked at Tony with an expression he probably recognized by now- one that said 'please explain'.

"The producers are the people who are in charge," Tony said, deciding to keep it simple. The title "producer" got used a lot in show biz for a lot of reasons. "The ones who tell everyone else what to do."

"So they is Ones of television," Firekeeper concluded, logically.

"I guess? Those are the people in charge in your world?"

Firekeeper frowned, not entirely sure how to explain this. She knew humans didn't call their leaders Ones, but it was easier than remembering the various terms they insisted on using. "One Male, One Female, is leading wolf pack. King Tedric is human One of Hawk Haven," she tried.

"Yeah, okay," Tony said. "There's big producers and little producers but every television show has a big producer in charge of everything." And Chester Bane was bigger than most, at least physically. "Just one One, though, not male and female."

"Humans is having too many ways of doing things," Firekeeper complained. "Wolves is simple, makes sense. Not different from pack to pack like humans."

"Makes it more interesting?" Tony suggested.

"More confusing," Firekeeper shot back, but with a smile.

Tony shrugged and grinned. "Keeps us on our toes."

Firekeeper couldn't help but glance down at Tony's feet at that remark. "What is that meaning?"

Tony looked at his toes as well, as if the answer were there. "Making sure you're paying attention; staying alert?"

"Oh," Firekeeper nodded. "Not paying attention is good way to end up dead," she offered. "At least, is wolf way of thinking."

"It is for humans, too, at least in some places," Tony said, thinking of some of the places he'd lived.

"Here is safest place I have been in a long time," Firekeeper replied, absently reaching back to scratch Blind Seer between his ears.

Tony eyed the wolf. He couldn't imagine feeling unsafe with him by your side.

Sorta like having a vampire to look after you, but in daylight as well. And without the possessive issues. Or so he assumed.

"Yeah," he agreed. "This place is pretty safe."

"Some have said is not so," Firekeeper's snort of disbelief pretty much gave away her opinion of that statement. "I tell them, forests is much more not safe."

"Some people are so used to being safe they don't know when they've got it good," Tony said.
