Romeo ventured into the common room late Tuesday evening, drawn by a desperate need to get Halloween candy early. He found a bag of miniature Snickers and settled in on the couch, fortified with chocolates and a showing of Absolutely, Perhaps that he was pretending was drawing him in less than it did.

He was rooting for the brunette.

"Good evening," Romeo said. "Treat for me, trick for you if I don't share."

Which he was going to do. Probably.

"Come on, please?" Dick asked. "I'll be your friend."

"You wouldn't be much of a friend, if I had to pay you off," Romeo pointed out.

"But the payoffs are cheap," Dick countered. "Cheap payments can make for great friends."

"And I can't eat the bag by myself, anyhow," Romeo admitted He passed the bag over. "If you're ever mean to me, I'll demand restitution."

"I'll have Kit Kats on hand just in case," Dick agreed, taking a candy bar.

"But Snickers are better," Romeo wheedled.

"I can't keep them around all the time. The name makes me feel like they're always laughing at me," Dick said.

"I can honestly say I would never have thought of that," Romeo reported. "Are Kit Kats free of such associations, then?"

"Not unless you have issues with cats," Dick said. "Or poor spelling."

"I can live with cats and poor spelling," Romeo decided. "And candy of any sort."

"Then Kit Kats should definitely be a good enough payoff," Dick said.
