Self-Defense Club, The Gym, Monday afternoon

"Sometimes staying safe means that you have be aware of your surroundings," said Hoshi. "It's easy to get distracted by talking on the phone or text messaging when you're walking around on your own. In a sense, it feels safer because you're connected to someone else. The problem is that you miss the all the other signs that may otherwise tell you to beware. Today we're going to practice being silent and aware. Pair up with someone else, watch them silently, and try to figure out what's going through their mind."

She paused for a moment before adding, "Of course, if the silence is too much for you, there's still the punching bags."

Amber laid down on her side and lifted her leg. It was about all the energy she could muster today.

Adam took a moment to stretch, still thinking about his Art of War assignment.

She carefully stretched out, pleased enough with the fact that she could remember the stretches after so much repetition.

Oh, stretching. Cal figured the best way to do it silently was to not put anything into it at all.

Dick stretched while getting a head start on silence. This one was going to be pretty easy for him.

Sitting crossed-legged, she stared forward, putting herself in a zone. Let someone try to read her. No way could they do it. Of course, the same could be said for someone else but she liked to think she could read people fairly well.

Viki twirled her hair around in her hands as she waited to see if anyone cared to pair up with her.

Amber stood in front of a bag for a full minute. Then she kicked it once in it's fake groin.

There. She was done.

Oddly, he was very quiet today. He wasn't napping either. He was just watching the students with interest.

Heck, he might even be a little bored.

"Hi, Hoshi," Amber said quietly.

"You knew I was a kitten?" she asked. Did everyone know? "Cal took care of me. Which is odd, considering. But we are still friends so it was kind of cool too."
