Fourth Floor Common Room, Monday Evening

Hannibal kind of loved having no classes on Mondays. Having an extended weekend every week made his life a little easier and his sleep a lot longer.

So, having just woken up a few hours ago (yeah, really), he'd ordered a pizza, once it arrived, had taken it down to the common room. He wasn't planning on eating the pizza immediately.

Quiet nights like this called for made up games of umbrella sock golf. After he'd hauled the pizza down to the common room, he went and retrieved his umbrella and a clean pair of socks.

And now he was hitting them around the common room, trying to hit certain targets. So far, he'd gotten two out of six targets. He was kind of bad at this game.

"Smack the pair of socks towards targets, win points. I'm just randomly assigning targets point values," he said. "So, admittedly, I really can't lose."

"You could," Romeo said, trying to be generous. "If you had really horrible aim. Though then I suppose you could decide you got double the points for stopping short of the target, or some such."

He recovered a ginger ale, and twisted off the top of the bottle.

"Exactly. See, if I say the fridge is twenty points and I hit the wall, I just say the wall was thirty points all along," he replied.

"That sounds exactly as it should be," Romeo informed him. "Are you going to give yourself a reward, at the end, like ice cream if you hit 500 points?"

"...now I am," Hannibal said, laughing. "I hadn't thought of that before."

"Then I've done at least one good thing today," Romeo answered. "I'm glad I could give you an idea."

"How's your day going?" he asked.

"It is good," Romeo answered. "I should sleep, though. We went to Argentina for my birthday, and I barely napped before my class. How as yours before you started inventing sports?"

"Argentina?" His vacations paled in comparison to that. "Not too bad. Had it's ups and downs but mostly ups. There was a party on Friday and then a lazy weekend."

"Dojima has interesting taste," Romeo said proudly. "I liked it. Warmer than here, anyhow. Though I am sorry I missed the party. Was it the burlesque thing there were posters about?"

"That was it, yeah," he said. "It was some kid named Eric's birthday party but there were also half naked dancers. So...all in all, a good party."

"I didn't get naked dancers for my birthday."

Yes, Romeo actually looked sad about this.

"Maybe next year?" Hannibal tried. "I didn't get them for mine either."

"But next year isn't for another year," Romeo half-laughed. "When was yours?"

"About a month ago," he said. "Angela threw me a party in the rec room which was really nice."

"I have no idea how I missed that, but I must have," Romeo said with a little shrug. "Mine was last week."

"Happy late birthday," he said sincerely. "Sounds like it was good if you got to go to freaking Argentina."

"We'd had a bad few weeks," Romeo explained quietly. "It was time to get out of town."

"Always a good reason," he said. "Glad it helped."
