Fourth Floor Common Room; Tuesday Evening [ 12/02 ].

Since rehearsal (and therefor a good chunk of what he considered him being social) was canceled, Cal decided he'd emerge from the depths of his room yet again, but was feeling too lazy to venture beyond the common room. He flopped on the couch, dug under it for the remote control that still seemed to be there from yesterday, and turned on the TV.

To a program of a Yule Log. And Christmas music. And that was it.

"...Huh," Cal remarked, intelligently, head tilted. He got up, went to his room, and returned with a book in his hand.

It was almost kind of cozy.

"Yeah, I know," Cal said with a little grin back. "It's worth it, though. Not enough Greek food in this town."

"I don't think I've even had Greek food," Mac admitted, pulling her legs up to sit crosslegged on the couch.

Cal just looked at Mac, his face a mask of grave disappointment, and lightly shook his head.

"I was a vegan for a really long time," Mac pointed out. "Foreign food and weird diets really don't go hand in hand."

"But there's tons of vegetarian Greek dishes," Cal assured her. "But we just don't talk about them, because, yeah. Vegan would be harder. We love our cheese as much as we love our meat. My brother went through a whole phase like that, and Mom wanted to throw him out the window."

"The point of my phase was as much to piss off my mom as anything else," Mac admitted. "But now I'm not around her much, it doesn't seem to make much sense to keep it up."

"I think that's kind of why my brother did it, too," Cal said with a slightly crooked grin. "That, and the influence of his hippie girlfriend. I went through a phase where I swore off all Greek food all together, actually..."

The reasons for which Cal was not about to mention to Mac.

"I was pretty young and emotional, then, though."

"We all go through some strange phases, I guess," Mac decided with a shrug. "Looks like we've both got past ours, at least."

"I also had an ice cream sundae phase," Cal felt like adding. "At least a week, all I ate was ice cream sundaes."

"Didn't that make you feel ill?" Mac asked curiously. She certainly wouldn't be able to do it.

Cal shrugged. "A little bit toward the end. But they were cheap and I didn't have my parents around at that time to yell at me about it. I was such a rebel."

"Such a rebel," Mac agreed with a little chuckle. "How old were you at then?"

"Fourteen," Cal said, with a nod, thinking that he'd skip the whole part about how he'd run away from his parents in New York and had just arrived in San Francisco at the time, because that took the joking rebellion of the sundaes into something far more serious and...well, actually rebellious.
