Fourth floor common room [evening]

Ben--who had droids, but no pets--had not noticed anything amiss so far.

He'd decided that an entire day of hiding in his room was probably bordering on overdramatic, so he wandered down to the common room, flipped on the television and made popcorn.

Thank the Force for the "popcorn" button on the microwave.

He was now trying to follow the plotline of some movie about cheerleading.

"We have?" Ben frowned. "I'm normally really good with faces."

"Yep." He took another kernel, sniffed and ate it. "I live with Dean."

The sniffing finally tipped Ben off. "You're that Hunter?"

Hunter stopped and looked up at Ben. "Is there more than one Hunter around here?"

"Not that I know, but I don't know everyone," Ben replied.

"Point," Hunter admitted. "But I don't think Dean would've named me this if there was others running around. Because I'm awesome and unique."

Ben burst out laughing. "Yeah, you spend a lot of time with Dean."

"Well yes," Hunter agreed matter of factly. "He gives good scritches."

"You're not getting scritches from me when you look like this," Ben said quickly.

"Wasn't expecting them." He tilted his head to one side and regarded Ben thoughtfully. "But why not? I'm fairly sure I'm still very pleasing to look at."

Ben stared. "Humans don't give other humans scritches," he said carefully.

"Dean does," Hunter pointed out. "All the time."

Ben thought about that.

"I don't give other humans scritches," he clarified.

"Oh." Hunter shrugged. "Your loss. Scritches are awesome."

"I prefer hugs," Ben told him.

Hunter cocked his head. "Hugs."

"When you put arms around each other...you know, hugs!" Ben explained oh-so-clearly.

"And that's better than scritches?"

"Well, I shower, so I don't have so many...scritchy places," Ben hedged.

"I don't need to shower, I can clean myself with my tongue," Hunter told him.

"Ew," Ben said before he could stop himself. "Humans don't do that."

"That's okay," Hunter said, patting Ben's shoulder. "I don't hold it against you."
