Self-Defense Club, The Gym, Monday afternoon
"Sometimes protecting yourself means more than just knowing how to knock out an attacker," said Hoshi. "We've already talked about having a plan in case you're attacked. But what do you do if you're in a burning building? Do you know the fastest way to get out? Do you get out, or do you go find your friends first?"
Hoshi passed out some information packets before continuing. It was worth noting that there was lots of reading material. She may have gone a little overboard. "So I've been reading stuff about how people behave during a disaster, and unfortunately, a lot of people tend to freeze up during in an emergency because that's their first instinct. Their next response to is communicate with others around them or go looking for others. There's even cases when people go back to the bar for another drink before getting out of a burning restaurant. Unfortunately, that means most people lose valuable time when they could be getting to safety. Today, we're going to share our experiences on surviving disasters and work on creating escape plans for when the unthinkable happens. Oh, and the punching bags are still set up, if any of you guys still want to work out."

Yes, that was all she wanted to share on that.

Quite frankly, anything he'd experienced her was no where near traumatic as some of the shit that had gone down in his real life. He wouldn't relate any of those here, for obvious reasons, but a lot of them were pretty freaking hard to top.

He was actually kind of hoping someone would ask him a few questions.

For the record, my survival score is probably pretty low. I waited to 15 minutes before calling security to ask, "Hey, is this fire alarm going off a real fire, or can I just ignore it?" and last year, I evacuated from a hotel during an earthquake only to run back in right away when I didn't see any of my friends.
