2nd Floor Common Room, Monday morning

No classes today combined with new students, meant Johnny was in the common room playing with fire. Mainly just bouncing fire balls back and forth from one hand to the next.

He was relaxed (back from an awesome island trip) and in a good mood. ESPN was broadcasting a motocross race, and he was pretty damn content.

Ino was... kinda bored. And kinda just not in the mood to study, or whatever, so she was wandering.

"You're totally just showing off in case a new kid comes in, aren't you?" she asked, amused. "Hey, there."

"Whatever gave you that idea," he said, glancing over at her. He totally was showing off. "Hey, you."

"Your personality," she quipped, wandering over to poke through the cupboards for a granola bar. "Makes it a bit easy to guess."

True. He certainly wasn't going to deny it. "I've haven't showed off in awhile. I'm totally allowed on occassion."

She shut the cupboard and went over to flop in one of the chairs, a chocolate chip granola bar in her hand. "Oh, totally," Ino agreed. "I wasn't saying anything good or bad 'bout it, just that you were."

"Good to know," he said as he tossed a rather large fire ball in the air. "How was the welcome picnic? Lots of new kids?"

"Mmmmm, yes," she said, considering that. "Though not as many as some picnics. Still quite a lot of them though--you didn't go?"

"Nah," he said. "Just got back yesterday. Me and Savannah spent most of the holiday break in the South Pacific."

"Ooooh," she laughed, "you actually had a vacation, during vacation! Was it a good one?"

Johnny grinned, glanced down, and maaaaybe blushed just a tiny bit. "Yeah, it was excellent."

She laughed. "Sometimes you manage to be adorable, awww."

Which made his blush deepen. "Hush you," he said without much conviction.

"Tell me about some of the new kids; any with superhuman powers?"

She hummed thoughtfully, well pleased at getting him to blush. "One at least," Ino said slowly, "though I don't know what she can do. Her name's Dinah and she's just adorably nervous 'bout everything. She was really worried 'bout this being a place that had issues with mutants and stuff, so... I told her it wasn't a big deal, and if someone tried to make it a big deal that they'd get, like at least, half the school pissed off at them."

He smirked at that hum, only guessing at what was going through her mind. "Aw, she sounds cute, and I bet you were all friendly at her and willing to help, weren't you?"

"'Course," she said, nibbling on her granola bar. "I like breaking brains, but only of those who seem like, right there, they could deal with it. She was already so nervous, I just had to be nice and reassuring."

"That's how it should go," he agreed. "I mean, someone walks in here and totally freaks out at the fire, I'd put it away and ease them into it." Except he hadn't done that with Toby last semester.

"I'd hope so," she said, mostly amused, "considering, yeah, fire is one of those things that people can be super twitchy 'bout, you know?"

"I guess," he said, semi-agreeing with that. He wasn't burning up so it like, shouldn't be a problem, right? "Sure is fun. In fact, I haven't flown for awhile. Think I might do that here soon. Wanna come with?"

She perked up. "Flying!"

Ino adored flying, seriously. "I'd love to!"

Johnny laughed at her cute perky self. "Well then, it's a date. You just let me know when and I'll make myself available."

Ino contemplated her schedule. "Thursday?" she asked. "'Cause I've got a class first period, but other than that I'm free. And Friday I don't have anything going on, so if that day is better for you, works for me."

"How about Thursday after classes?" he asked. "And is flying at night a problem for you?" He especially enjoyed flying at night.

"Night time works fine for me," she said, beaming. "We should totally go out over the water too. It's really neat in the dark."

"Yes, I know," he said, winking at her. "And awesome! Maybe I'll make some fireworks."

"Should I bring popcorn?" she teased.
