Washing one's clothes in a stream meant that Firekeeper was actually quite comfortably attired as she (and Blind Seer, who just plain didn't need to worry about clothes) wandered in to the common room with boxes from one of the food-selling places in town. The smell of fresh-baked bread and cheese had drawn her in, but then she'd been asked about "toppings" and, not quite being able to decide, ended up leaving with a half-dozen of the disc-shaped bread things.

Which was far more than even a very hungry wolf needed, really. Which is why they were all laid out on a table, ready to be shared should anyone else wander in.

Meanwhile, Firekeeper flipped on the television and looked for something interesting to watch. Perhaps something along the lines of what they'd seen in class today, with explosions.

"You is not having any boots?"

"I did. But they seem to have vanished with the rest of my clothes. Exactly halfway back from the school building."

Firekeeper frowned. "Who do this thing?" It sounded like sorcery, but really, what kind of spell involved stealing clothes?

"Rumor is, it's the washing machines, but damned if I know. I've never run into anything like this before."

"Francine and Ichigo say something of this," Firekeeper nodded. "I am not knowing how these machines is working, but am knowing that stream is too slow-moving to be stealing clothes," she said, possibly just a tiny bit smugly.

"Yeeeeah, well. California Boy," Priestly said sheepishly. "I don't really know anything about washing clothes in a stream."

"Is very simple," Firekeeper shrugged. "You get clothes wet, use soap if you is having some, and scrub. Then, hang to dry."

"I tried washing a shirt in the sink, once. It came out all stiff and shaped like the chair I hung it on when it dried."

"You should have shaked it," Firekeeper advised around a mouthful of pepperoni pizza. Not that she usually bothered; stiff cloth was still better than the badly-tanned deer hides she'd fashioned growing up.

"Shake it? Before or after it dries?"

"Before," Firekeeper affirmed. "Derian say that way it not get stiff."

"I'll have to give that a shot. Who's Derian?"

"A friend from... back where I is from. He teached me much of human ways."

"Ah." Priestly wasn't sure if he'd known that Blysse hadn't known about human stuff. "Cool. Kinda like Trucker teaching me about not-preppie stuff."

"Maybe?" Firekeeper shrugged. "I am not knowing what preppie is."

"Doesn't matter. It's basically the same thing."

"As being human?"

"As learning how to do it?" Priestly shrugged. "Sorry. I'm being bitter."

"I am not understanding what you is saying," Firekeeper admitted.

"I, uh." Priestly tried to figure out how to put it. "I was raised -- I mean, by humans, yeah, but -- not as who I really am, you know? Not the way I want to actually live. And Trucker's the guy who taught me about what I really want."

"Oh," Firekeeper nodded. "I only ever wanted to be wolf, but there is some things about human ways that is not so bad."

"But, hey, you get to pick the best of both worlds now, right? That's gotta be pretty nice."

"Is," she grinned. "More so in this place, where people is maybe thinking I am strange, but among so many other strange things it does not matter much."

"Yeah," Priestly looked around, grinning and wiggling his toes. "This place is pretty cool like that."

"Except when it decide to steal clothes," Firekeeper pointed out. "Then, is just cold." Why yes, that was actually a joke. Or an attempt at one.
