Third Floor Common Room, Thursday Afternoon
He'd dragged Merlin off to hunt early that morning. Even if the boy had absolutely no instincts or abilities that were helpful in any way, Arthur did need someone to carry what he killed. Because of his arm, he hadn't been able to do it the thrilling way, crossbows and all, but traps still worked just as well.
To shorten the tale, he was now seated in the common room. He'd granted the fireplace a passing glance that was rife with relief at the familiarity and seated himself.
He was roasting rabbit meat over the fire. Arthur was perfectly capable of taking care of himself when he didn't feel like having the servants deal with it. Or he was out in the wild. Or any other circumstance of its ilk. He'd be hard-pressed to survive if he didn't.
Roughing it held an odd twinge of relief, divorced from the local madness, and joined with his reality at home.

"Do you mind if I join you?" she asked, smiling a bit and already taking a seat no matter what his answer.

She could ignore him. He just figured he should.

"Yourself?" and he was smiling just a little.

"I'm sorry, but I haven't actually, that is... I'm a bit of a hermit. And I do have a name, rude as I am, and hopefully I'll get there soon."
He stood and offered a hand.
"Liir."

For Arthur, he was being downright congenial.

Arthur figured it'd come up sooner or later.

"It's rabbit," Arthur felt honour-bound to mention, but was otherwise silent on the matter.
He couldn't feed the whole bloody world off one rabbit.

All right, well. At least he's not Manek.
Which was what got him to one of the couches and settled with his notebook and things. He couldn't let himself be entirely rude (mostly out of pure stubborness) and so he nodded his head towards the other boy in greeting as he got to his work.

Otherwise, his focus remained on the fire, and the rabbit in question. He might have found no will in him to judge the boy harshly simply because of his magic, but it was still... uncomfortable.
He was mostly concerned with making the effort to keep any fear from wafting off his body. He was a knight, and he'd suffer this as one.

And definitely warmer than in his room.
He considered complimenting Arthur on the rabbit, dismissed it as a somewhat pathetic desire to make sure someone wasn't angry with him, dismissed that as even more over-analytical ridiculousness, and finally forced himself to stare at the tome in his hands and what was written in it with a short grunt.
Books good. Yes. Right.
