Third Floor Common Room, Wednesday Afternoon

Despite Merlin's sudden turn towards actual servitude, which had worn off rather quickly and suddenly this morning, and the difficult conversation with Liir the previous day, Arthur was feeling almost pleasant today. Stop the presses.

When he found the common room empty, he promptly took a seat in a chair that didn't look too uncomfortable. He looked around a bit, popped one of the dried fruits he'd taken from his room into his mouth, and hoped no one would come in to put the Tee Vee on.

He might have been in a good mood, but that didn't take away that this place was noisy enough as it was.

"Spells are fueled by man," Arthur pointed out, "So the overabundance of magic means there must be an overabundance of spell-casters. There's your human threat."

He smiled a little. "I meant more in the line of assassination attempts and other conspiracies. But I admit, there is no magic where I come from." A matter of definition, perhaps, but nothing that Leto would call magic.

"That might make things easier," Arthur said, his voice a perfect deadpan. "But there are always plots, yes. I fear them less than these transformations the locals whisper about."

"I must admit I fear plots more than transformations," Leto objected. "My sister doesn't seem to be too concerned about them." He smirked. "She ended up looking like me one day."

"Now what," Arthur said, with no real malice in his tone, "Would she have done to deserve such a fate?"

"Knowing Ghanima, she probably made the best of the situation." He gave Arthur an amused look. "I assume this means I run the risk of waking up looking like her."

"And what a terrible risk it is," Arthur agreed, "Looking far more womanly than you do now."

"My sister is a very beautiful woman, if I am to look womanly it should be like her." Leto looked quite serious, but he certainly wasn't.

"I dearly hope I don't wind up looking like Morgana if that happens," Arthur muttered, "But then I dearly hope I won't have to deal with it at all. I'd rather stay away from sorcery."

"She is not your sister, though," Leto pointed out. "Although I'm sure you would make a very pretty girl." Yes, he managed to say that without even a smirk.

"Whatever," he said, vaguely. "And of course I'd be a pretty girl. I'd just rather be a man instead." He eyed Leto. "Suppose you wouldn't be too ugly."

"You suppose? And why is that?" He put another date in his mouth.

"I can't be sure until it happens," Arthur pointed out, "And I'd rather not deal with that particular situation. If there's a sorcerer who delights in doing that every year, they've earned a good pummelling."

"You better find him before that happens, then." He paused. "But I should introduce you to Ghanima some time."

"Perhaps I will," Arthur said, stubbornly. "And perhaps you should."

"But you have to behave," he said, warningly. "For your own safety, at least."

Arthur eyed him. Sideways. He understood, but still, he was none too fond of taking commands. "I'll be perfectly chivalrous towards your sister," he said, "It's almost insulting you'd assume I wouldn't."

Leto grinned. "I did not mean to imply that I didn't trust you."

Arthur shot him a cautious look from the corner of his eye. "Good," he said.

Also, Arthur was too much fun to tease. Leto continued smiling to himself, finishing the dried fruit in his hand.
