lovemykilt: (Malcolm is interested!)

Third floor common room, Saturday around noon

Malcolm had spent the morning wandering around, boggling. Harken had never looked like this before! They must have remodeled the whole dorm! Of course, that meant he kept getting lost -- Malcolm wasn't that great at finding his way around on a good day. But there were all these new people around! It was his duty as a long-standing Harken student to meet them, right?

He just wished he could find Jake or Zoe or even Mr. Felcher. They'd know what was going on. . . .

He finally settled into one of the large common rooms and sat perched on the couch. Maybe someone would come by who could tell him what was going on.

[ooc: open! I have to run to work in a few hours and am greedy and want to get some play in. *grumbles at stupid work scheduling me all weekend*]

"It needs meat," Lo decided. "It's not much of a sandwich with just orange cheese." She popped another bubble. "So who're you?"

Luke went and poked at the fridge again. "Ham? Turkey? Salami?" he suggested. "And I'm Luke. I just got here. Good to metcha."

"Salami," she said, hopping up from the couch impulsively to watch what he was doing. She leaned in a bit too close. "I'm Dolly, to most of my friends. But you can call me Lo."

If she batted her eyes at him, would he blush? Boys were so predictable.

He did. Luke was easy that way.

"How'd you get Lo out of Dolly?" he asked, assembling salami, cheese, mustard and bread and passing it over.

Lo grimaced at that, taking the sandwich. "My mother named me Dolores," she sighed. This was clearly a major crime and a personal insult.

"Uh." Luke didn't think Dolores was that bad a name, really. "Sorry. I think it's kinda pretty."

She was definitely moving into his personal space, now. Lo smirked. "It's not half as nice as Luke."

Luke unconsciously stepped back. "Luke's kinda ordinary, though."

"So?" Lo shrugged. "Lots of things are ordinary. Doesn't make 'em dull."

It was addictive, trying to toy with him, see if he would jump when she leaned again.

He did; Luke was 14 and fine with low-key girls, but Lo was ... not low-key. "You're real friendly, Lo. Where you from?"

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-02-08 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
"Ramsdale," she sighed. "I'm very friendly. To people that I like."

Would he bite, or wouldn't he?

"Well, then call me your new best friend," Luke suggested.
