The Range - Girls With Guns [Tuesday afternoon]

Triela looked almost happy enough to be whistling merrily when she arrived to set up for club today. She wasn't the whistling sort, so of course she didn't actually whistle, but she still looked like she might bust out at any moment.

Usually her first order of business was normally to go through her gun cases, but today things were a bit different. Before anything else she hung up a poster. It was an extremely precisely drawn (if thoroughly boring) two-column affair. "Paint ball" and "Laser tag" were written neatly at the top with a line drawn between them and plenty of space under them.

"Write your name under whichever activity sounds more fun to you," she told people as they began to arrive.

Yep. Someone looked a bit smug.

Triela's in a surprisingly good mood. Not suffering through an insane weekend can do that to you.

As always, Triela's gear is available if anyone needs to borrow it.

Because even the wall-flowers need somewhere to stand.

I hope Triela never finds out what her adviser did this weekend.

"Hey, Triela." Dinah came in ~~at some point after a rehearsal that hasn't happened yet~~ and looked at the two poster options. "Do we know when we want to do this yet?"

"Not yet. I'm still looking at potential locations. Probably sometime in early March, though. If things work out."

"Cool." Dinah looked at the guns, and said, "Every day here is like Catharsis Day. I'm pretty glad I joined."

"I'm glad you did too," Triela laughed. "And, yeah, it's relaxing. I always feel calmer after a day at the range myself."

"Hmmmmm." Dinah smiled, then gave Triela a careful look. "Triela? All that stuff you told me. About Italy, and your job. Would you mind, if I mentioned it to someone? Like Mr. Algren?"

Not that that would stop her from doing so. But she wanted to be as up-front about this as she could, and she didn't really think Triela would care too much.

Triela blinked, frowning just a bit. "Go ahead. It's not like it's a big secret around here."

The frown deepened slightly. "But why?"

How to explain this without getting insulting, or weird. Well. Maybe there was no avoiding it. But not making a big deal of it would help, probably.

"It worries me. I'm worried about you. Going back there and getting hurt, mostly," Dinah said frankly. "Somebody here at school should know about it, in case something happens to you. I guess maybe the school might already know, but I wanted to check."

Triela's expression morphed into a lopsided grin. "That's sweet." She seemed amused at the thought. "It's nice to know someone cares."

Dōjima, paint ball.

"Well, yeah," Dinah said, a little off-balance, but relieved Triela wasn't pissed. "I mean, It's all a little..." Warped? Wrong? "...irregular. Would they even let us know, if you couldn't come back?" If you got hurt or died?

"Probably not," Triela snorted. "I could probably send a letter or something." She couldn't really conceive of ending up dead or significantly injured on a mission.

"Well, I thought if I talked to Mr. Algren, and checked, they could at least keep an on eye it. On you." Dinah raised her eyebrows. "I know you said Hiltshire looks out for you, but that's there, and it should be more official, you know?"

And mentioning everything else that worried her to Mr. Algren would at least make her feel like someone in charge was going to care about what happened to Triela.

Triela's adviser also hopes Triela never finds out what he did this weekend.

He also looks and feels quite spectacularly hung over. But he's going to stick it out. He's had worse splitting headaches amidst more constant gunfire in the past, damn it.

It wasn't like Dinah really wanted it to be Mr. (Hot) Algren she was talking to about this, but he was the only teacher she and Triela had in common, and he usually seemed pretty decent. He hadn't even laughed too hard when she'd blurted that out at him last week.

"Mr. Algren? Um. Is today a really bad day to talk to you?"

Being talked to. Okay. Hello, communication.

~~Mr. hot~~ Algren cleared his throat and looked up at Dinah, offering her a smile. He felt like hot ass, but he was good at faking otherwise, too.

"Not at all, Dinah, is it?" He was pretty sure it was Dinah. "I'm here to be spoken with."

And to make sure the students didn't do anything stupid. But that was a given.

"I appreciate it," Triela smiled. Then added: "Even if you do worry too much."

Dinah winced a little, and decided that someone else had had a sucky weekend.

"I wouldn't bring it up, except I do think it's important. Okay." She took a breath. "Do you know about Triela's job? Back where she's from?"
