Gym; Wednesday After Classes [ 02/18 ] -- Cheer Practise!

It was Chad's turn to set up for cheerleading practise, which he did pretty easily, as he never had much trouble moving the mats or even lugging around the giant container for Gatorade. In fact, the most difficult thing for Chad was picking out the music. There were a lot of options but, today, he was thinking they needed some rock. If he could make life contain just a little less pop music, he was content.

She offered him a hand up. "Seriously?" she frowned. "That's no good. But you're safe, here. Honest. Most of the cheerleaders are ass-kickers."

It was sort of neat, having a cheer squad that could probably double as a special ops team.

Priestly took the offered hand. "Thanks. But the -- whatever it is -- set fire to my trash can. I don't know if kicking ass is gonna help."

"That sounds more like Fandom weirdness than some crazy guy stalking you," Rikku agreed, helping to pull him up. "And Fandom doesn't really have an ass to kick."

If it did, it would probably be smashed by now.

"Yeah. And it's freaking me out."

"Fandom does that," Rikku sighed. "Life gets weird, and then it clears up sooner or later. I'm sorry things keep catching on fire for you, though."

"Just my trash can. It was too keep me from --" Priestly snapped his mouth shut. He had a little bit of tact, after all.

Rikku giggled. "I won't narc on you," she promised seriously. "It's okay. Fandom was being nosy?"

Drugs, maybe, or keeping a weapon in his room. Who knew Fandom was a stickler for rules?

"And then some. Didn't know this island was such a prude."

Rikku had to clap a hand over her mouth for the rest of her giggles. That wasn't going to cover up all of her blush, though.

"I, uh, I didn't either," she confessed, lowering her voice. "I g-guess we were just lucky before?"

Teal deer, staring at you. Total mood-killer.

Priestly sighed. "And now, I'll never get lucky at all."

Rikku's eyes widened. "You don't think it's ... like. Permanent, do you? I mean --"

She'd managed quite well before now, so there was no good reason Fandom would suddenly outlaw sex, was there? .... Oh fuck.

"I don't know, I'm only just figuring out it's not just me."

"We, uh." Turning bright red. But. This could be important. She'd try to talk, then. Okay. Okay. "The preserve? A-anniversary? And some deer showed up and stared at us so --"

Flaily hand gesture. That was clear enough, wasn't it? Coitus had been quite effectively interruptus. Or, really, notgonnahappenus.

"We kept falling off my bed," Priestly offered. "And getting jumped by my pet flying squirrel. And then the water went cold on me and the trashcan caught fire."

"So this is ..." Rikku stared for a long moment. "Fandom. It's. It's decided we can't any more?"

... no way was she going to last until graduation.

"Oh god." What a truly terrifying idea.

"I can't possibly," Rikku blurted out, and then turned purple as she heard how that sounded. "I mean I'm not like horrible or anything and that sounds so bad it's just that I've kinda gotten hooked on it and why can't I shut up!?!"

Priestly was turning a nice shade of pink himself, since now he was thinking about Rikku and how she might look when she --

Yeah.

"There must be a way to stop it."

"This isn't happening," Rikku decided firmly. "It's a coincidence. You had a bad couple of days and so did I. Coincidence! People do stuff like that constantly here and if there was some kinda epidemic about it we'd know by now. I mean. Right?"

It sounded all nicely logical. And much nicer than never again.

"Three times. Three days in a row." Priestly stuck out his chin stubbornly. "That's not a coincidence."

"Okay," she said firmly. "We have to prove this isn't some kind of curse. We need to get people to ... uh. Hook up. Tonight. And report back. Right?"

"You want me to talk people into having sex?"

Oh.

"That ... sounds kinda bad, doesn't it?"

"Just a little."

"You could remind people that Valentine's is over and they should go snuggle the one they love," she offered. "Or the one that they think is kinda hot."
