Third Floor Common Room, Saturday evening (and outside the window)

The Common Room might appear to be empty. The drapes are open, but the sheers are drawn to obscure the view outside.

Dinah's hanging out there on a rappelling rig, though, riiiiight around the edge of the window, spying. She's a little bored, but there's nothing she won't do to win this bet with Seregil.

Triela wasn't even on the third floor. But ropes are one of those things she's trained to notice, and one is hanging right outside the fourth floor common room. She opened the window and poked her head out, eyebrow lifted in a sort of curious amusement.

Hearing a noise above her, and wondering if she's about to catch Seregil, Dinah's head snaps up, then she waves. "Hi, Triela" she whispers, perfectly audible in the quiet. "Don't tell anyone I'm here!"

"Are you up to something nefarious?" Triela asked with a smirk. Because the idea of Dinah being up to something 'nefarious' was pretty ridiculous.

"No! Um, sort of?" Dinah's line swayed a little, and she grabbed the edge of the window for support. "I'm trying to catch a thief. He's being elusive."

"You don't think he'll notice you hanging out the window?" Triela asked, honestly curious. It wasn't like she dealt with many thieves herself.

"The sheers are drawn, it's light in there, and I'm around the corner," Dinah said hopefully. "He might! I don't know, but I'm not catching him hanging out in there, he refuses to come in when I'm obviously on guard duty. That won't work." She grinned upward. "Plus it's fun."

"What's he stealing, anyway?" Because Triela wasn't about to try to argue that it didn't look fun.

"A bowl of candy I put in the fridge for him to try to get." Dinah tapped the camera around her neck. "I just have to catch him in the act. I doubt I could get in there fast enough to stop him if he showed up. I owe him the snacks of his choice if he pulls it off."

"Ah," Triela shook her head in amusement. "So it's a game."

Dinah grinned. "A bet. Yup. He said he could do it in a week. I've been booby-trapping the fridge and guarding it every night. So far, nothing." She sighed, then yawned, looking annoyed. "And maybe I can't stay our here all night after all. It would be dumb to fall three stories over this."

"Yeah. I mean, you could rig your harness to hold you even if you fell asleep, but that wouldn't help with the whole watching thing."

Peering in the window, Dinah sighed. "Not much." She squinted at her watch, then looked up again. "I guess it's late enough. Maybe if I can just keep out for a week, that'll count too. Or count for a draw."

"Playing defense is a lot harder than offense," Triela pointed out. "Because you don't control the initiative."

Dinah started climbing back up the wall, hand over hand, then gathering up the line. She needed the practice, even if she could have activated the zip line to pull her up. She stopped outside of the 4th floor window, and smirked. "We need to do this somewhere in town still. Before the end of the semester, some night."

"We do," Triela agreed. "Soon?"

"Soon is good." She twirled a moment, grinning downward at the ground far below. "The bet's up Tuesday night. If not sooner. So sometime after that?"

"Wednesday or Thursday? You'll want to catch up on sleep." Because Triela didn't want to run around on rooftops with a drowsy Dinah.

"Thursday's good." Dinah grinned. She'd missed this, not being able to just stalk around the night in Gotham, sneak up and spy on people. "I don't have class 'til third period, I can still sleep in."

"Excellent," Triela grinned. "We'll have to sit down and work out the details at some point."
