The Range - Girls With Guns [Tuesday afternoon]

"Listen up, people!" Triela called loudly as soon as she felt enough people had arrived. "I've got a quick announcement and then you can get on with your shooting."

She looked around, smiling slightly to herself. "Considering how well the laser tag field trip went, Captain Algren and I have decided to put together another one. Next Monday we'll be going back to the mall, but this time with paint ball guns. Just like last time, everyone is welcome, so feel free to invite anyone you know to join us. And just like last time the club will provide you with the equipment you need."

"And now you can get back to what you were doing."

"Triela," Dinah said, pulling out a CD from her bag. "I got you a present. Kind of." She handed over the Phillip Glass Metamorphosis 2 CD. "I was in Groovy Tunes getting music for me and Blysse, and saw this one, and thought you'd like it."

"Welcome," Dinah said. "Oh, and I lost my bet to Seregil on Sunday night. So any time that's good with you, we can do that building rappell. I dont' have any classes tomorrow or Thursday, but the weekend's pretty open too."

"Sure, that'll work. I'm rested up and all." Dinah grinned. "Afternoon work for you?"

As she sat, listening and thinking of the trip and cleaning her gun as usual, Turtle couldn't help get a little...nostalgic. It had been today, probably two years ago, that she got this gun from Mister Deadpool...

It seemed to make the girl a little somber, but a little protected, too.

Lion-o was still a little drowsy, despite his little nap earlier at Café Fina. He was trying to shake it off before doing some target practice.

Oooh, upcoming trip? Tahiri was fully intending to do a much better job this time around. Last time had been embarrassing, and the way things were going she didn't have time to mess around with training any more.

She was wearing a more serious expression than usual today (not that she knew it, but the kind of expression that the version of her in Jaina's world wore all the time these days) as she cleaned her blaster and inspected its power packs.

Jen spent a good twenty minutes inspecting, cleaning, and calibrating both her blasters before she even got down to the incredibly OCD matter of testing the triggers and calibrating those.

Girl was picky.

Also high maintenance. Hush.

Helen was particularly focused today. And very accurate.

Today, Tahiri wasn't messing around, and she was using her Jedi training to the fullest -- guiding her aim with the Force, she was pumping blaster bolts into the center of the target at a speed that could definitely be described as superhuman.

Dinah got up to shoot, pretty happy with how her skills were coming along. After five weeks of this, and off and on practices, she could now hit the target consistently near the center, if not on it every time.

Jen . . . was actually not in scary-intense focused mode today. Instead, she'd opted to try a little fancy shooting -- from behind her back and all that.

She was a little less on-target with those techniques than she was with her standard ones, but all things considered for a canon where any shooting has a healthy dose of the poorest aim in any galaxy she still did pretty well.

Agnes borrowed a gun and got to shooting quite happily. She still had plenty of room to improve, but she was getting better.

Momoko was trying her luck today with barely spending time on her aiming. Moving targets, beware!

Judging from the results, no targets would trembling, so it was back to taking careful aim.

That's Captain Mr. Hot Algren to you young pups!

And he was there, of course, to ensure that the children didn't do something stupid with the guns. And he was in a pretty good mood as he did so.

He'd had a good weekend.

"I'll make sure not to get stuck under anything this time, sir," Tahiri said with a sheepish smile as she approached.

"No harm done," Algren replied, smiling and shaking his head. "We got the equipment out from under the kiosk, everything remained more or less in one piece. I'd say it all worked out in the end."

And he'd never seen a toy gun take off running seemingly on its own volition, either. So it had kept things interesting.

"If you'd really been trying to get me, I would've been done for," Tahiri answered with a grimace, "and that was dumb of me."

"Better you learn during a game of tag, then," he noted, quirking an eyebrow faintly. The average child wouldn't worry so much about that sort of thing, after all.

Children here tended to grow up too damn quickly.

"Experience is the best teacher, really. I imagine these games are more educational for many of the students here than they were originally intended to be."

[personal profile] weetuskenraider 2009-03-24 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's the problem. I'm treating it like a game, and I should know better by now." Tahiri blew a lock of hair out of her eyes and bit back undue frustration at him; she knew that other than the scars on her forehead that were, at the moment, mostly obscured by her hair, nothing about the way she looked should suggest that she'd already been through some pretty nasty combat action. "Could I ask you a favor? On this trip, don't go easy on me."
shiroi_tiger: (Concede)

Re: Advisor man!

[personal profile] shiroi_tiger 2009-03-24 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"Considering the amount of students who I'm certain would be all too happy to slather me in a bright coat of paint on this trip, I don't think there will be any problems getting me to take this outing more seriously than the last," Algren replied, smiling easily.

He understood the request. He wasn't going to turn her down. But if she wanted to delve into her reasons why, she would have.

"Thanks," Tahiri said with a hesitant smile. "I'm going to need the practice, I think. Don't take it personally if any of your shots come back at you, okay?"
shiroi_tiger: (Is that so?)

Re: Advisor man!

[personal profile] shiroi_tiger 2009-03-24 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'll keep that in mind," he agreed. More of the same thing that caused the laser gun to take off? That would make for a welcome challenge, really. "If you're going into this viewing it as a battlefield situation, then I'll be certain to consider it as such if our paths cross. Fair?"
weetuskenraider: (Almost Smiling In Profile)

Re: Advisor man!

"Don't mention it." He offered her a nod and a reassuring smile. "Go on, get some practise on today with those targets. We'll see what you're made of next Monday, hm?"

"Will do." Tahiri grinned at him, and went to snag herself an alley.
