The Range - Girls With Guns [Tuesday afternoon]

After the field trip yesterday Triela had most definitely needed some stress relief, so it didn't even occur to her not to go to the range today. In fact she went early because today she had a lot of gear to bring in. She had a dozen different shotguns in a stack and a huge crate labeled "Property of the United States Government".

She wasn't even thinking about other people showing up today, but she really, really needed to shoot some stuff. She pulled a box labeled "FRAG-12, 100 count" and started loading her shotgun.

Bless those gun-happy Americans and their apparently burning need to design grenades that you fired from a shotgun.

Triela has a whole bunch of shotguns with exploding ammunition. And she's been known to share. Or you can brush up with your own weapons.

The already loud gun club meeting is going to be even louder than usual. Yay explosions.

Seriously, guys, the US Military felt that standard shotgun shells weren't powerful enough. So they made some that explode (http://www.defensereview.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=741).

Algren felt about as good as he looked today. He'd been up late last night, making certain nothing had followed them through the portal, and when it had finally closed he'd spent the rest of the night alternating between drinking and showering.

But a little thing like not having actually slept wasn't going to keep him from showing up today to make sure that those who were here weren't being stupid, and those who were able after last night were still all here.

If Tahiri had been quiet and serious yesterday, today she was doubly so, completely focused on cleaning her blaster and not paying any attention to the people around her.

"You feeling better?" Triela asked during a quick break from shooting.

Tahiri nodded. "Fine now, yeah," she answered. Well, physically she was.

Triela wasn't really the most empathetic of people, so she nodded. "Good."

Dinah Lance, with boomerangs that would've been useful

That was just fine with Tahiri, really. She eyed the grenade shotgun and raised an eyebrow. "Isn't that just a little bit of overkill?"

Dinah had planned on just staying quiet and not really chatting much today, but the sight of something that said "Property of the United States Government" on it had her boggling. "How...? Where...?"

Triela raised an eyebrow right back. "After yesterday?"

"I don't usually ask where my suppliers get things that they probably aren't supposed to." She was still surprised that Cable had even agreed to sell her the stuff. And she doubted he'd ever do it again.

"Well, they're not here now," Tahiri pointed out.

"True," Triela agreed. "But I intend to be ready in case I ever run into something like that again." She shrugged. "Judging by how much damage it took to take one of those things down, I'm not sure a standard 12-gauge would be enough."

"I feel like I should report this to somebody, but I have no idea who, or where, or how..." Dinah shook her head, then shrugged. "Can I try one after I watch you?"

Because hey, new skills are always good, even if semi-illegally acquired.

"I think you'd have to take them apart," Tahiri noted. "Even pinned to the ground and with broken legs, they kept trying to move."

"Sure," Triela nodded. "That's part of what the club's about."

She loaded one of the rounds, shouldered her shotgun, and fired. It was basically like shooting a regular round from it, except that when this one hit it exploded.

Dinah winced, put on her ear and eye protection, and nodded. "Pretty impressive, sheesh. These would have blown the zombies apart, wouldn't they?"

"And this should do that," Triela nodded in cold satisfaction.

"Yeah. I think so." Triela nodded sharply. "At the least I think we could have dismembered them from a distance."
