Wednesday After Classes, Gym, Cheerleading

Savannah was a very practical person. She knew how much fun the Gremlins were enjoying biting people and she hoped that enough people in one place would discourage the evil little things.

She had mats set up and refreshments for practice.

"Then I guess they do the job," she said, looking at him a long moment. Sort of. Between clawing zombies, and overzealous princes, his face wasn't doing well lately.

"You ever going to tell my why you let him hit you?"

"Because I was an idiot to Adora when I was half insane and he took exception to that," he told her. "And I tried to talk to him. I really did but he didn't want to talk. He wanted to punch."

"Only half-insane?" she asked, a little twitch in her smile.

"He can't really blame you for that, can he?"

"A lot insane," he said and sighed. "And doesn't matter if he can or not, he did. So, ta da."

He waved a hand at his face and winced. He needed some better luck.

"The week will get better," she told him firmly. "It's about past the half-way point, so... It will."

Don't ask how she knows this, she just does. Her outlook gets a whole lot more positive without dead things hovering around.

"I wish had that confidence this week," he said and frowned. "Cheer me up?"

"It's what I'm here for," she said, smile widening a little. "I mean, literally, I have the pom-poms if that's the sort of cheering you're looking for?"

"If you want to give me a little cheer, I wouldn't object," he laughed. "But, I was just thinking you could slide closer and talk to me a little."

"If this doesn't work, I'll cheer for you later," she promised, crawling a little nearer.

"How about that?"

"Deal," he said, pushing the sunglasses up a little because it wasn't like she hadn't seem him. "Are you having a better week than me?"

"I haven't been bitten by anything, or punched... So, I'm thinking, yes. It's been quiet. Which, after last week, is really good with me." She was quite resolutely Not Thinking about last week. That was working very nicely for her.

"I haven't had a good run at all," he said, shaking his head. "Before this, I spent most of Sunday puking my guts out."

So eloquent.

Angela wrinkled her nose sympathetically at that. Yet another reason to pretend the weekend didn't exist as far as she was concerned.

"All the more reason to break that trend."

"Any suggestions on how?" he asked curiously. He had a suggestion but he was holding that. Well, not a suggestion, but a question.

"A positive attitude? Saltines? Learning to dodge?" she tried with a little teasing grin.

"I usually have a positive attitude, I'm not hungry and I was trying not to fight," he pointed out. "Like you asked! My nose hurts."

Such a whiner.

"Hey, you asked for ideas!" Angela said, raising her hands in innocence with a little laugh.

"I thought you were supposed to be cheering me up," he teased, trying to glare at her even if it came out wobbly. Stupid face. "Why'd you let this happen to me?"

Because it was her fault.

"Next time, I will try to not be in class when you're getting beaten up," she said, not really able to help her smile.

"I hope it was a damn good class, at least," he said, reaching for one of her hands. He could still use those. "If it was boring, then I don't forgive you."

"My teacher did the hula in a coconut bra and grass skirt," she shared. No small amount of amusement gained from that image, that was for sure.

"What? Really?" he asked, smiling a little himself. "She hot?"

Angela considered that a moment, and nodded. Couldn't deny it, really. "Does that count as interesting?"

"Better than my day," he said and brought her hand closer to him so he could kiss the knuckles. "I have to ask you something."

"Ooh, something good?" she asked.
