Ino, and Weechee who was still crazy-adorable, were up nice and early to get the table for prom ticket sales set up. With king and queen voting even. There was, because this was Ino, various sorts of chocolates set out too.

And a small sign that said ‘free hug (if you want it) with ticket purchase’, because far be it for Ino to pass up a chance to get random hugs. Shush. Besides, she was just a sophomore. If it wasn't for Ichigo, she wouldn't even be able to go, geez. Somehow that totally counted as a valid reason for a hug.

Or something! She didn't really need a reason after all!

"Depends," she chirped cheerfully, "do I get a hug?"

He was cute, come on.

"Sure!" Jack said without hesitation. He would never turn down a hug with a cute girl.

Ino was all for easily obtained hugs. Hence the bouncing up to go around the table and grin up at him. "Hi," she said, reaching for a hug.

"Hi," Jack said back as he leaned over to hug her. Human contact. Good stuff, man.

That's why hugs were totally amazing.

"So," she said, perfectly content to be there, "why're you buying a ticket for your sister? You owe her a favour or something?"

He was going to post it on her mirror to taunt her for missing it, actually. Stupid Jill with her stupid thinking about stupid prom all the stupid time.

"She's away and she won't get back in time to buy her own." True, as far as it went.

Ino contemplated that.

"What's the catch for her there?" she asked, because really, that had to have a catch, right? "'Less you're just that nice of a guy."

"How do you know I'm not that nice of a guy?"

She stuck her tongue out at him, and laughed.

"I assume most people aren't that nice," Ino informed him. "'Cause that tends to hold true."

"I'm not that nice," Jack admitted. "Jill probably will miss the prom and I'm mean enough to taunt her with the ticket. All she thinks about is prom prom prom and she never realizes how lucky she is to have all the rest of it."

"The rest of it?" she asked curiously. "Though, ha, you should tell her that in some worlds we don't even have proms at all!"

Jack laughed. "I don't think her sanity would survive," he said, totally skating past Ino's question.

Ino didn't miss that fact, but since he was pretty much a friendly-nice-stranger, she wasn't going to pry more than that.

"...is prom really that big a deal?" Ino said very dubiously. "I mean, it's fun, but really--in comparison to a lot of Fandom, lack of prom is a tiny issue."

"It is for Jill. Damned if I know why," Jack said. "And up until this past weekend, she totally refused to accept there was anything weird about this island. So, you know. For consideration."

"Your sister is kinda creepy," she informed him, offering him his ticket. "Totally no offense, or anything, but the weird is hard to miss around here."

Jack grinned and took the ticket. "She's very good at self-delusion," he said. "Like, you have no idea."

Ino made a face. "Ewwww. Totally a huge weakness, right there. But, hey, whatever. If she's made it this long..."
