Deck, Sunday Afternoon

With everything that had gone on recently, Hannibal almost forgot about the picnic he owed Adora. Almost but not quite. And, since it was a nice day today, he let her claim it and did his best with packing a basket.

Cold pizza, potato chips, two cans of soda some store bought brownies seemed the most safe and least cooking intensive for him.

The basket was at his feet and Hannibal was leaning back in one of the deck chairs, just waiting now.

"She might!" Hannibal said, snickering. "If I lied about what it was really about. And looked cute."

She still probably wouldn't.

"If you lied!" Adora laughed. "You would have to lose your mind to lie to your girlfriend." Right?

"I've lied to her before," he admitted. "She knows I have. I'm trying to work on that."

She sobered fast. "Oh! I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to poke at you on that!"

"It's not your fault," he said. "You didn't know. Mostly it was about things I knew would upset her. Fights, injuries, things like that. Nothing really super serious."

"Oh good," Adora was relieved. "I mean, not good, but...you know."

"I'm working on it," he promised. "I'm not used to relationships."

"I would've thought someone like you would've dated a lot," Adora admitted, surprised he would say that.

"Dated, yes," he said, nodding. "Long term commitments." He shook his head. "No."

She blinked. "Is there a difference I should know about?"

"Well, sort of," he said. "I mean, Angela and I are dating, sure. But I'm not used being with just one person. Dating just one person. I'm used to playing the field so to speak."

"Okay, see, that right there is rather new for me, too," Adora replied. "This exclusivity thing is really only possible in a place like Fandom where we are all nearby at all times."

"It's not possible where you're from?" he asked. "Like, what about Bo?"

"Bo?" Adora went bright red. "No. Never Bo."

"Why not?" Hannibal asked. "Short? Bald? Boring? Gay?"

She shot him a look. "If you must know, he's in love with She-Ra."

"Aaaaah." Okay, he couldn't help laughing. "And she's not in love with him?"

"No. He's infatuated with her for being strong and saving his life all the time." It was pathetic, really.

"And what do you think I was in regards to her?" he asked curiously.

"I think you liked her uniform," Adora winked.

"Cop out," he said and made a face. "I like girls in uniforms, period."

"And you're nothing like Bo." That was an understatement. "Unless you too can play the guitar and shoot arrows."

"I could probably shoot an arrow but no, no guitar," he said. "I'm not infatuated with She-Ra either."

"I wasn't trying to imply that you were," she said. "Bo also wears red tights."

Hannibal shuddered. "Yeah, won't be doing that either. Ew ew ew ew."
