Third floor common room [afternoon]

It was chilly and cloudy--not ideal tanning conditions--so Claudia wandered into the common room with her giant makeup case and haircare supplies.

She stuck a poster on the wall:

"GET A MAKEOVER BEFUR YOU'RE PARENTS ARRIVE. FAKE TATTOO'S WILL REALLY FREAK 'EM OUT!"

She flipped to some random soap opera and waited to see if anyone would take her up on her offer.

Chad shifted the cat a little to get a better look at him.

"He'd look good in a poncho," he decided.

Chad also considered this, figuring he should probably practise in knowing what goes with what if he was going to model on the side at school.

"Blue, maybe?" he guessed. "Dark ones, with some greens?"

"Yeah?" Chad asked, after a private moment of pride for his budding fashion knowledge. "Think you could make something like that for him?"

Prince Oscar Pedro squirmed a little in Chad's arms, feeling disturbed and disquieted and not knowing exactly why. It was just one of those Bad Feelings.

"Awesome."

Prince Oscar Pedro found himself unable to hold back a long, distressed meow.

"So do you make a lot of stuff like that?"

That being clothes in general, not cat ponchos, although he'd run with that interpretation, too.

"That's pretty cool," Chad said. "I should have learned how to do stuff like that. The stuff in stores doesn't usual fit."

Except Aloha shirts. Those always seemed to fit.

"You know," Chad offered randomly, as Prince Oscar Pedro tried distracting him from ponchos by cutely rubbing against his chin again and purring, "I'm actually almost too tall to be a model."

Because you were freakishly tall, Chad.

"Yeah, like..." He held up one hand over his head, to the appoximation of an inch. "Six seven's probably too tall. And I think I'm done," finally, "at six six. But, like, six two, six three is what most agencies want."

Sadface. Man. He hadn't been six two since he was fifteen!

Chad was momentarily confused about what basketball and modeling had to do with each other.

"Basketball uniforms?" he guessed.

Chad puzzled over that for a moment.

"I guess," he reasoned, "I'll be working with a lot of people who supply suits for basketball players."

Hey, he had a target audience now! Awesome.
