The Range [Thursday morning]

Having handwavily rescheduled with Hinata, Triela arrived at the range early Thursday morning. The timing was actually pretty good, she thought, as it gave her a little bit of time to collect her thoughts. Things were getting pretty chaotic what with the graduating people and all the guests.

She shook her head as she checked over her gear. It was interesting to consider that last year she hadn't been bothered at all by the thought of people leaving. She wasn't sure if it was a good thing or not, but apparently she'd actually managed to forge some emotional connections.

Imagine that.

As she'd told Triela, back when they'd first made plans, Hinata had found the location of the gun range with little effort.

Now she slipped inside, taking a moment to see everything that Triela had bought, though she wasn't sure what most of it was for.

"Hey again," Triela called when Hinata arrived. "This is your first time on the range, right?"

"It is," she said, stepping over to where Triela was. "I've n-never had reason to come before."

"Then I'll give you a quick tour." Triela flashed a grin, "And a rundown of the rules. Guns are dangerous, so we try to make sure no one gets hurt by accident."

"That's g-generally a good thing," she said, a bit amused. "And caution is never bad."

Triela nodded and went through a quick, but thorough, tour.

"And the most important thing," she repeated for emphasis, "is that you don't point guns at things you're not willing to shoot. Questions?"

"You s-said there's different sorts of guns," she noted, "what are the major differences that'd be likely to come up?"

"There are two major types of differences," Triela explained, leading the way over to her gear. "Size of the gun and size of the bullet."

"Bigger generally means longer ranges and more power, but they're not as convenient or as concealable."

[No worries. Work does that sometimes!]

Hinata followed after her. "But b-both kill people."

"Yes." Triela held up an unspent shell. "This is the part that does the killing."

"It's small," she commented. "Though s-size doesn't often matter if properly used."

Senbon, after all, were slimmer.

"And they're fast, which helps."

Triela picked up a small pistol and held it out to Hinata. "You want to see one in action?"

She moved to take it gingerly. "You first," Hinata said, looking over it.

Triela nodded in approval at that. She kept her movements precise and deliberate to make sure Hinata could follow them.

She slid a magazine into place, chambered a round, and aimed down range. "The advantage of the gun is ease of use and power. Pull the trigger and..." she pulled the trigger.

Jack (and his new haircut) was at the range for a bit of shooting.

As soon as he could figure out how to put the ear protection earmuffs on without denting the 'do.

"Hey, Jack. Having trouble?"

"Uh, well, sort of." Yes. "Still getting used to this," he said, absently rubbing the back of his head.

"What brought that on?" Triela asked, eyebrow arched curiously.

"I got shanghai'd by someone. You...like it?"

"It's... different."

"That's not a yes," he said, quirking an eyebrow. "And...that's not a no."

She shrugged slowly. "It's not bad," she decided.

"That's good to hear. Don't want to scare anyone off with my hair."
