4th Floor Common Room, Afternoon

Fandom High had it's traditions. It had it's gremlins, weird lockers, zombie band, and shirtless students. It also had another, slightly less wide spread, but no less bizarre tradition. A very personal tradition, really.

Which is why there was a polar bear lounging on the floor in front of the TV and the AC was turned on to full blast. The polar bear also had a giant tub of ice cream and, even more randomly, an old fashioned glass bottle of Coca-Cola.

Space Battles IV was playing on the TV. The remote was well hidden underneath a couch, along with a pile of clothes.

[ooc: Marco is still cuter than Anders. Open!]

"What the fuck Buck?" Leda gasped, staring into the room. Though it was just as likely she was staring at the TV.

"Hi." Leda said tentatively. She was suddenly wishing they hadn't made her leave her knife in the weapons locker. Not that it likely would have done any good.

After going through town, Diana was now exploring the dorms. She didn't expect anything out of the ordinary, but it never hurt to check. She didn't expect a polar bear watching Space Battles IV.

"Hunh. At least you have good taste."

"Um, thanks?" Diana said, gingerly sitting down. "So, what's your name?"

Jon had, for a few very wonderful hours, managed to forget about the weird. And then he wandered into the common room on his floor. He stared at the polar bear for a few minutes and then sat on the couch as far from the bear as he could get.

"You know, they really should put some of this stuff in the brochure."

"Got anymore Coke?" No, it didn't feel at all weird asking a polar bear that. No more weird than talking to Thor anyway.

"But would parents really send their kids here?" Diana asked, offering up her popcorn. "And it's so much more fun this way."

[identity profile] asgardcreated.livejournal.com 2009-05-10 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Jon shrugged as he took a handful of the popcorn. "I still would have ended up here."

[identity profile] oops-mbad.livejournal.com 2009-05-10 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Same here." Diana admitted.

"Hey Johnny, how's it going? The natives treating you decent?"

[identity profile] anarchist-queen.livejournal.com 2009-05-10 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Pretty much Dutch. Haven't met any bullies yet anyway."

"You got to see the brochure?"

She hadn't. She wondered what was in it. Possibly the same nonsense her mother had told her.

"Nope. But I'm pretty sure the polar bear wasn't in there."

Fiona honestly wasn't sure how one was supposed to use these spaces, and out of curiosity she'd been checking if each of them was the same when she noticed the polar bear.

That's certainly different.

As it didn't seem to be causing any trouble and seemed fully hypnotized by the idiot box, she simply licked her lips and sat down on one of the couches to see what this television nonsense was all about.

[identity profile] cutsthestrings.livejournal.com 2009-05-10 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
She smiled in reply.

"Are you another student?" she asked calmly. After a talk with an apartment-sized crocodile with teeth the size of your arms, well, this didn't strike her that hard.

Also, the complete lack of fiction in her life had sort of made her more likely to simply believe truths as they were as opposed to thinking it was a joke or a trick.

"They have these where you're from?"

"Televisions or polar bears?"

It was a reasonable question.
