Grover Cleveland Campfire, Tuesday Night

Savannah was cheerful as she started a campfire in front of her cabin. It had been a good day. She had enjoyed her SAT prep class -- best idea for a class, in her opinion. After class, she had drawn up her courage and auditioned for the new play. She thought she had done pretty well and now was kicking back in front of the cabin and people watching.

She had pulled out some sodas and anyone was welcome to grab one.

Claire wandered outside when she spotted the fire. "Hey, Savannah."

Johnny plopped down by her, shirtless, and leaned over to kiss her cheek.

"Hey, babe. How was class today?"

Savannah grinned. "Hey, Claire."

"I didn't realize we were cabin mates," Claire said. "I think I've met nearly everyone in here now."

God, she really loved summer.

"I had my SAT prep class, today."

"We're cabin mates? Cool. Obviously we're the coolest cabin, then."

She was very cheerful.

"Clearly. You must be on the A side. I met K-Mart yesterday. And on my side is me, Ellie, Penelope and Turtle," Claire said.

"Yeah, cool. Did you enjoy it?" he asked, being lazy and tossing a fireball into the fire.

"Oh cool. I don't know Ellie, but Turtle's neat and Penelope is such a sweetie. K-Mart is one of my best friends."

"I think it will help me with the tests to get into college." She took a drink from her soda. "Oh, and I auditioned for the play."

"Ellie's new too," she explained. "But she's very sweet."

Ellie thought she heard voices outside, so she went outside to see what was going.

"Hi," she greeted, taking a seat on a log.

"The play? Seriously? That's awesome, Savannah. How did it go?"

"Hi," Savannah said to the new arrival. "I'm Savannah."

"This is good to know. I like knowing I'm living with good people."

"Same here," Claire said.

She blushed. "Well, I told him how stupid I thought the ending of Taming of the Shrew was, and he had me redo my monologue with what I thought she was thinking as she gave her speech. He applauded and and told me to grab a muffin and check the cast list." She smiled. "He told me that he'd see me at rehearsals."

She was still surprised she had done it.

"Have you had any classes yet?"

"Two. On Monday I had Spy Games and today I had Logically Speaking," she said. "Tomorrow's my day off. I'm thinking about getting a job though."

"I've had three classes and have my fourth on Thursday." She tilted her head. "If you don't find anything you like, let me know. I could probably get you a job at my brother's store. I'm like his assistant manager."

He grinned wide. "I am so proud of you," he said, wrapping his arm around her shoulder and giving her a gentle squeeze. "Think you'll like it?"

"Cool, thanks, I will keep that in mind," Claire said.

She smiled, looking down at the dirt. "I don't know. It seems like an adventure... but I'm not an actress, Johnny. I can't lie to save my life."
