The Salle, Thursday Afternoon, After Classes

Elspeth found the local oddities to be more intriguing than overwhelming, in general. Still, it was a relief to retreat to the salle and work through her sword exercises. It was one tiny spot of normal in a great sea of something else entirely.

"And I suppose you've had a few difficult opponents?"

Elspeth smiled. "My weaponsmaster back home is the best in the land," she said. "If I can score a hit on him, I know I'm doing well."

"My Uncle Aaron is the same way. I haven't gotten to practice with him enough," since she'd spent her little vacation enjoying Roberts company for the most part.

"I haven't landed a hit yet."

Which was probably safest. Her family was worried about she and her brother as it was.

Elspeth smiled. "It took several years before I could land one on Alberich."

"I don't know that I'll ever be able to land one on Uncle Aaron," she admitted with a grin of her own.
