Taft Campfire: Wednesday Late Afternoon [5-20-09]

Yes, that was Fall Out Boy blasting from Wing 4 of Taft. And that would be Peyton sitting out by the campfire with her feet up, a sketchpad, and a cold drink.

She'd probably be pretty amenable to turning the music down or taking suggestions for the next album.

Valentine quirked a little bit of an eyebrow. "It'd be pretty hard to find a starting point with that much. Like going into the library. I don't have any idea where to begin half the time."

"I have a bunch of mix CD's," Peyton offered. "All sorts of stuff on them. You could make note of which stuff you liked and I could give you some more specific stuff."

"That...seems like a pretty good start, yeah," Valentine smiled a little. "And CDs are compatible with most laptops, right? I mean, I know there's a drive for it, so I can't see why they wouldn't be."

Peyton nodded. "Yeah, totally. Hang on." She got up, leaving her sketchbook on her chair and went into the cabin to grab a couple of them.

If the other girl were to look through the sketchbook, she'd find stuff like Peyton's comics (http://www.punkndisorderly.com/myart_comics.html?3) and sketches of various people - with a large focus on Dean Winchester.

Valentine waited, her interest in the sketchbook manifesting only in a tilt to the head, a slight craning of her neck for a better glance. Her interest wasn't enough to go blatantly snooping; instead, she held it as a question for the other girl when she got back.

Peyton was back in moments, offering two CD's to the other girl. "There, take a listen to those and let me know what you think. Oh, and I'm Peyton, by the way, sorry. Should have introduced myself earlier."

"Thanks, Peyton," Valentine smiled as she took the CDs, giving them a slight glance. "And I'm Valentine." She settled the cases in her lap a little and nodded toward the sketchbook. "You're an artist?"

"Valentine. After the holiday? Or the saint?" Peyton asked curiously.

She glanced at the sketchbook, scooping it up as she took her seat again. "Yeah, sort of. You can look if you want," she offered.

"The saint," Valentine said with a smile, glad that at least Peyton seemed to think of that as well as the holiday.

And, since Peyton was offering, Valentine would take it. "Sure," she said, holding out her hand. "I'd love to see what you can do."

Peyton nodded. "Cool."

She handed over the sketchbook. "Nothing too fancy. Couple of comics, some sketches of people from here and home."

Valentine thumbs through the drawings a little, smiling thoughtfully, tilting her head here and there as she turned the sketchbook around for better looks at things. "I like them," she said, simply. "You like drawing what's familiar to you?"

"Yeah." Peyton smiled a little. "Not always cheerful stuff. But it's what has meaning to me."

"And who's this?" Valentine asked, flipping to one of the pictures of Dean and showing it to him. She'd noticed the likeness making an appearance here and there through the whole thing.

Peyton blushed a little. "Dean Winchester. A guy friend. A good friend."

"Someone here?"

"Yeah. We're not exclusive or anything," she said quickly. "His choice. But we're good friends, too."

"I see," Valentine said, trying to hold back a little bit of a grin. "I don't think I've met him, yet."

"Yeah, well... now you'll recognize him if you see him," Peyton said lightly. "Though don't confuse him with the lookalike with piercings and spiked hair. Not the same guy. Though Priestly's totally sweet."

"Look-alike with piercings and spiked hair," Valentine noted, nodding a little. "I don't think I've met him, either."

"He stands out," Peyton said with a grin. "You'd remember him."

"I think I've seen him before," said Valentine, nodding. "Because, yeah, kind of hard not to notice. Just haven't met him."
