Benjamin Harrison Campfire - Late Wednesday Evening

Five days since Rose had seen Lissa, and that was longer than she remembered since they'd met sitting next to each other in kindergarten.  When she was by herself, she couldn't stop mentally poking at that oddly blank spot in her head where Lissa was supposed to be.  Every once and a while, Rose could almost feel a whisper of emotion from the spot, but it was never constant.  It was never the way their bond had always been.

She'd tried to tire herself out today, but she couldn't fall asleep so Rose got up and headed out to the unlit campfire.  She scavenged some bread and peanut butter and sat at the campfire to occupy herself by ripping up the slices and throwing pieces into the firepit.

Elspeth returned from a late evening ride with Gwena and sat down at the campfire. "Has the bread gone bad?" she asked, curious.

Rose looked up then shook her head ruefully. "Nah, it's evil bread," she said lightly. "Looked at me funny."

"Then it's getting its just due," Elspeth smiled. "I'm Elspeth, by the way."

Firekeeper and Blind Seer were passing by the cabin when the former caught sight of Rose. She stopped and tilted her head at her companion in a questioning gesture, before nodding decisively and moving to sit down at the firepit.

"Rose. Hello." Firekeeper offered in greeting.

She smiled back and offered Elspeth a piece. "Would you like to kick its butt too? And I'm Rose. You're in this cabin too, right?"

"Hey Blysse," Rose said easily, shredding another piece of bread. "Blind Seer. I saw you guys both got to fly yesterday in class."

Firekeeper nodded. "We is now only wolves that fly," she said, smiling a little as she recalled yesterday's class.

"Will all the other wolves be jealous?" she asked.

"No, I won't deny you your vengeance," Elspeth said. "Nice to meet you, Rose. I'm in alcove A2."

"You're too kind, and it's nice to meet you too," Rose said, remembering her manners. "Not just because you're too kind. I'm on the other side in B4."

"Perhaps," Firekeeper admitted. "If no else, will annoy the ravens, who is often bragging of things they see when flying." Well, it'd annoy Bitter at the very least. Lovable would be too busy being amused by her mate's predictably grumpy reaction to be annoyed herself.

Rose smiled, the oddities of wolf politics completely distracting her. "Why aren't I surprised that ravens brag like that?"

Leda looked a bit unsteady on her feet, and sang softly to herself. Someone she'd known once had informed her that the lyrics were actually a poem by some guy named Yeats.

She'd drunk enough to forget who'd told her. Mission accomplished.

"And I thought I was the only one up this late." she said, spotting Rose.

"Sorry," Rose said. "Not that lucky."

This time, Marco didn't trip over his own two feet on his way to the campfire. Instead, he walked out normally, clutching a bag of marshmallows.

"Are you working on your entrance making skills?" Rose teased once she caught sight of Marco.

Wolves were pretty good braggarts as well. It was probably why they got on so well. "Is their nature. They spend much time finding shiny things to make nests pretty, and just as much time telling others of these shiny things."

She snorted, starting to laugh. "Now that sounds like some people I know."

"Human and beasts is not always so different," Firekeeper said wryly.

"I suppose that makes sense," Rose said, looking amused still. "Though I bet there are also some from both groups that would be offended at that."

"Always is," Firekeeper said. Blind Seer let out an amused snort, and Firekeeper rolled her eyes before dutifully translating: "He wish to say was not so long ago I snap and snarl at any who call me human."

"Why's that?" Rose asked curiously.

"Because I thinked, being wolf without wolf's shape, I must always try harder to be wolf. But now, I know there is things about humans that is good too, so I not mind so much."

"Of course." Marco said instantly. "Marshmallow?"

She held her hand up for him to throw one to her. "I would never turn one down."
