Magical Reserve - Behind the Cabins, Friday

There was a distinct lack of cauldrons to give this sort of gathering a magic-y sort of credibility. There was, however, some biscuits picked up from JGoB.

And some tea. Because it calmed his nerves on being back in the damned woods gathering people like himself all together in one place. There was always the possibility that one of them would try to kill Arthur. Simple facts of life, that.

He rather hoped that wouldn't be the case at all.

Arthur wasn't in the least bit magical. He was only here for two reasons: to keep an eye on what was going on in this group (to coordinate things better) and to intercept Morgana in case she got it into her head to show up, in which case they needed to have a Talk, and she needed to be Elsewhere.

So he was lurking near the back, half-leaning into a tree, and watching.

Diana was there, mostly to for the entertainment.

Liir showed up. It was going to be a busy Friday and he wasn't quite sure what he could do to help anyone except provide emergency scurvy prevention, but he was there.

Gabrielle wasn't the least bit magical but she was infinitely curious, not to mention possessed of a certain ability to drift straight into situations with infinite potential for disaster. (For her, anyway.) So, having been free of classes and wanting to explore a little more of the woods that were so oddly not all that different from the ones in New Zealand Greece, she ended up stumbling across the gathering.

That little figure in the skirt that looked like it was made of burlap and the brown homespun top, peering inquisitively from a spot in back, near a tree? That'd be her.

Really? Seriously? From J,GoB? Francine gave Merlin a Look when she showed up with a tray of fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies.

She could at least help with that, even if she couldn't do anything magic herself. ...Or bring herself to edit his posters.

Abigail Irene came, as she'd told Tony she would. Best to watch over this kind of thing; enough magic users in one place was dangerous. Most of them young and quite a few of them inexperienced?

Oh don't get her started.

Items to which Arthur and Merlin should have had LOLs over being introduced to: tea, tobacco, potatoes... *sighs and hugs the Beeb anyway*

You have to admit that the tomatoes had a certain je ne sais quo dripping off Merlin's face in the stocks...

Being here was exactly what Morgana had gotten into her head, and while she'd originally thought about staying to the back and simply observing, she found herself heading straight for the group instead, with no concern for who might have been lurking.

. . . yeah, I had the tomatoes thing going on in ancient Greece, too.

But with a line like "Hey, hey! Back off! You know, you wouldn’t be in here in the first place if you had kept your hands off my tomatoes!"

REALLY. WHO AM I TO ARGUE.

More sigh. Those too. I suppose they beat rotten peaches/pears/apples, which is about the only thing that would have the same consistency and actually be realistic.

Psh. That all pales in comparison to the fact that Merlin does magic spells in a language of THE FUTURE.

"Morgana!" Arthur called, as she passed on by. He didn't grab her arm or anything, but the intent way he approached her implied roughly the same thing.

Dinah wasn't sure where she belonged on these rosters, and okay, she was a three-talent wonder, but still. It'd be good to find out what Merlin and Tony were planning too.

Ha! True, though we'd be sighing all day if we went into the language inconsistencies in ... every historical show ever.

At least with Merlin, we have the assurance from the PTB that they are well aware and just mixing it up for shits and giggles?

*nodnodnod* And also Star Trek and Stargate, and... lots of other things.

I once threw a book set in a fantasy not-Earth world across the room because it described something as "Spartan". I was like: WHAT. THERE IS NO SPARTA HERE. YOU CAN'T SIMPLY SAY "BARE"?

Yeah. My linguistic nerdery, it shows.

I think my constant headdesking at language-inconsistency is to make up for the fact that I enjoy shows like, well... Power Rangers. THERE IS ONLY SO MUCH SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF ONE PERSON IS CAPABLE OF, OKAY?

And then you get magic like this. Drink the Koolaid. Just drink it...
