Second Floor Common Room, Monday Evening

Due to Skrull invasions and cabin living, Tony was now three weeks behind on the best vampire detective show on syndicated TV, Darkest Night. And this Wednesday was the season finale.

So Tony picked up a box of goodies from J, GOB and settled in the second floor common room with pastries, popcorn and a bomb bottle of cola to catch up on the episodes he'd missed. Pastries for eating, popcorn for throwing at the screen. Given that the first episode he was watching featured a zombie invasion, he was going to need a lot of popcorn.

"Come on, are you serious? No zombie's that tough!"

Dinah was wandering upward after a very fun time at Chilly Boulder, thank you very much, when she heard the familiar theme song. "Ooo!" She flopped down next to tony, and reached for two kernels of popcorn, in keeping with tradition. "What is it, what're they fighting this week?"

"Zombie," Tony said. "Which, by the way, look totally fake."

"I was pretty tough when I was a zombie," Francine said, coming in on that. No, she wasn't. "Ooh, is that a new one?"

"Zippers again, or just really bad-- oh, that make-up is totally fake," Dinah said, interrupting herself to laugh. "Geoffrey was way scarier!"

It wasn't her floor, but Valentine was wondering if there were any notable difference between floors when she came across the small gathering crowd and all the snacks in this particular common room.

"Something going on in here?" she wondered.

"Couple of weeks old, but new to me," Tony said. "Season finale's this week so we gotta get caught up."

Tony waved. "Television. Vampire detective show. Zombies. Want a doughnut?"

"No kidding," Tony said, waving a handful of popcorn at the screen. "The edges of the prosthetic aren't blended at all!"

"With a set-up like that," Valentine said, moving into the room with a little wave back, "how could I not? Any with sprinkles?"

Tony offered her the box from J, GOB. "Rainbow and chocolate," he said. "I'm Tony, by the way. You one of the new arrivals?"

"Hi hi!" Dinah grinned at Francine and waved the popcorn bowl at her. "Here, have some, I'm all full of ice cream. And some of the zombies are walking into walls, I think their eye-holes are crooked."

"That is so sad," Dinah said, shaking her head. "Hey, when that other wizard was on F/X, was the make-up any better?"

"Oooh," Valentine said, taking a moment with twitching fingers over the box before settling on rainbow, and then she dropped into a seat. "And I am. Valentine. Hi, Tony."

Like Griff was going to stay in his room for long periods of time with the potential for Karev returning there. The common room seemed busy enough, if less outdoorsy than the campfires for obvious reasons.

He took a seat to see if he could figure out what the program was just from the ads he'd seen around towns.

"Yeah, she was really good with glamours," Tony said. "The new guy's gotta make do with plain old makeup."

Tony waved and offered the box of doughnuts. "Newbie?" he asked. "I'm Tony."

"On the same budget, I'm guessing. That's just sad." Dinah finally ate one of her pieces of popcorn, shaking her head. "See, I now get why people watch horror movies and laugh, you know?"

"Valentine? That's pretty," Tony said. "Where in the space/time continuum do you hail from?"

"Are there gonna be more?" Francine asked, finding a seat. As a Bitterwoman fan she was waaaaaay aware of 'hahahah no renewal for you.'

"Newbie Griff, at your service," he said cheerfully, having no issue taking a doughnut. "Thanks. Seems where there's large groups of students there's free food."

"The good old ones are actually scary," Tony said. "Works better when you play with shadows and light and let the audience's imagination fill in the worst parts."

Of course, Tony found shadows pretty damn scary on their own. But not everyone had his experiences. Lucky them.

"Actually that's pretty accurate," Francine pointed out. "Sometimes their eyes fa-- um. Anyway." She remembered more than she wanted to remember about a lot of things. "Ice cream?" she asked with a raised eyebrow, not just to change the subject. "You stuffed yourself without ice cream without me?"

Dinah peered over and waved at Yet Another New Guy. Or at least a guy she didn't know. "Hi hi. Here for the zombies?"

"Hey, Griff," Tony said. "Yeah, this place is good for food. Some people even cook, but I'm not one of them. Everyone's better off that way, I think."

Valentine was really wishing she'd bothered keeping track of how many times someone said that her name was pretty because it was seriously getting to be a problem.

"Greensboro, North Carolina, and I'm pretty sure it's about one hundred and fifty years in the future, give or take some change. What about you?"
