Fifth floor common room, Saturday evening

After detention there had been some time to check messages and figure out if there was anything she needed to catch up on after spending her morning cleaning up alligator parts, and then she'd gone for the second shower. Her priorities were a bit skewed, but 'ew' was 'ew'.

Since she had some time on her hands, she settled into the common room of her apparently adopted floor with popcorn and her comlink on the table in front of her, flipping through channels and being really glad that Scifi's monster movies tonight had nothing to do with lizards.

Clocky couldn't exactly smile back, but it could beep (a lot) and did. "Oh geez, I haven't turned into an animal." Yet, but why tempt fate or Fandom by disclaiming that? If she had to, she'd want to be a shark or something, which would just mean that Fandom would decide she had to be something cute, fluffy, and harmless instead. Like a toothless guinea pig. "I did end up a painting for a week last summer though, and two-dimensional opposable thumbs are ^$&#-all good to anyone."

Giving the clock a little pat, Jaina set it back down on the carpet, figuring he could roam free. "I think that'd be my limit," she said. "If I turn into a painting, I just quit."

Katchoo snorted mildly as Clocky made a wide circuit around the couch. "I gotta say that one wasn't exactly my best work. Least Francine was stuck in there with me, or I might've just said 'screw it' myself." She glanced at the TV. "Do they ever make a good movie or is that stupidly optimistic?"

Because she didn't do stupidly optimistic. Except maybe about Francine.

"I'm sure the law of averages would state that there had to be at least one good one, probably on accident, but I'm not so sure," Jaina frowned. "This is just where I stopped, you can change it if you want."

"Eh. Nah." Katchoo rubbed at her shoulder, still a little sore from the recoil on the gun yesterday. "Not like I care about anything on TV except maybe Bitterwoman sometimes anyway. TV's mostly just good for background noise."

"Yeah. Actually watching it makes me wonder why anyone does," she said. "Something wrong?"

"Bunch of crap, the news especially." Katchoo shot her a mildly skeptical look and rolled her shoulder. "I'll live."

"Please do, dragging a dead person to the clinic was not what I had planned for tonight," Jaina requested.

Katchoo, half amused, snorted again. "What, less entertaining than this godawful movie?"

"It's all the way downstairs." Not that it was a big deal when she was good at levitation, but that wasn't the point.

"You could throw me out the window. I bet I wouldn't mind." She'd remember saying this years later when she really did get thrown out a window, most likely.

Jaina considered this. "It's not really my style..."

"I'd be in no condition to tell anyone," Katchoo pointed out dryly. "Though you might have to threaten the squirrels."

"Like it would work with those little bastards." Someone was bitter.

She wasn't the only one. "It'd just make the little kidnap-happy furballs take extra detailed notes, I bet."

"Or they'd start outright lying." She blinked. "Kidnap-happy?"

"Horde of the little --" Whatever Katchoo decided to call them right then got drowned out by Clocky's shrill, scolding alarm. "-- dragged me out of my room to the radio station last week," she bitched, like she hadn't done that of her own accord a bunch of times. It was the principle of the thing, dammit. The Arthur principle.

"Didn't you do radio like all last semester?" she wondered. She didn't think she'd ever talked to this girl before, but she didn't think there was anyone else here who talked like her.

"Well, yeah," Katchoo allowed. "But I wasn't supposed to frikkin' do it that time."

Or maybe she just liked to bitch. Could go either way.

"Step on them next time they try," Jaina advised. Which was probably not something she should say, but she hated the squirrels herself.

From the look on Katchoo's face, which if you had to caption it would probably be captioned Mwahahahaha? Probably not something to encourage, no.

"I just might have to do that."
