deck \ friday \ evening \ june 19
Alex didn't know if the rain was going to come or not but that didn't stop him from finding his way to the deck. With it getting dark, he didn't really need sunglasses but he had them on anyway. If he fell asleep, no one would be able to know until he woke up.
Cigarettes on the table beside him, Alex propped his feet up and tucked an arm behind his head. He'd left his book behind in his room so Alex was left with his thoughts and only his thoughts. Sometimes that would be destructive but tonight, he was pretty calm and it was all natural. He hadn't realized Sunday was Father's Day. That would probably be why he was calm. No shit memories intruding.

"Hey, Alex," she greeted. "Still being uninteresting?"

Seemed like as good a comeback as any. Uninteresting, nosy, all the same.

It was just too interesting for her to want him to stop any time soon.

He was not uninteresting, dammit.

"You, too, Alex."

"And hey, if you wanted to bring me a drink since you're going inside, that'd be swell," he said sarcastically.

But, of course, Valentine was going to decide that, in this case, she wasn't going to want to.
Maybe if he'd have said please.
Actually, if he was still there when she left later that night to meet Turtle for radio, she'd bring a drink with her. If he was still there, he could have it. If not, hey, drink for her on the way to the station.

Or not. Whatever.

"I like yellow!" she called, realizing that might just have to be the last one, though, because there was only so much space between the deck and the door.
"And pink!"

Valentine had told herself that she'd stop after that last one, but she couldn't help this one, nor could she help keeping her amused grin out of her tone.
Uninterested grin, that was it.
