Magical Reserve - Preserve Next to the Cabins, Wednesday

"Hullo everyone!" Merlin greeted those who came with perhaps a bit less of the enthusiasm he had about ice cream the other night.

Alright, quite a bit less.

"Today we'll be trying a bit of what the fighters did yesterday with hide and seek. Though for us, I think it ought to be okay to use a bit of magic to aid ourselves. If you're able."

Which, sadly, he was not.

"So, pair up and get to work."

Leda spun quickly and wrapped her arms aound whatever part of Karla was at shoulder height. "Gotcha!"

And missed, because Karla was still crawling on her hands and knees. She'd traded stealth for speed--not that she could get anywhere quickly by crawling--so Leda could probably hear her if she listened.

Damn. She did hear, and tried to close in. Possibly tripping over Karla in her haste.

You know, this had seemed like a good idea at the time. But that was before Leda had tumbled over her. "You okay?" Karla asked, standing up and coming out from behind her sight-shield.

"So much for the grace of the elves." Leda mumbled from her position on the ground. "Found you."

"Did not," Karla protested. "I came out of hiding to make you you didn't snap your neck."

"I tripped over you, that totally counts."

"You tripped over me because you couldn't find me," Karla argued. "If I hadn't been concerned about making sure you didn't break you neck in the fall, I'd still be hiding. Totally doesn't count."

"I tripped over you because I stepped right where you were. I found you accidentally, but I still found you." She was trying not to laugh.
glacial_queen: (Backwards giggle)

So was Karla. "Maybe, but you couldn't have kept me while you were tumbling ass over teakettle. I totally could have gotten away again."

Well there was that. "Yes neither of us were very combat ready there. You checked on me, and I didn't grab you when I could."

"Call it a draw then?" Karla suggested. "No tickles on either side?"

Karla leaned down, grasped Leda's hand to pull her up. "You sure you're not hurt anywhere?"

Leda held onto her hand, and wriggled a bit to see if there were any aches. "My tailbone hurts a bit, but it's nothing." She took the opportunity to give Karla a quick kiss.

"Now you try to find me."

Karla blushed at the kiss, then smiled. "Shall I give you till the count of thirty, then?"

Then leaned in and kissed Leda before she could answer. A small, quick kiss, but a still a kiss

Mmm, that was nice.

"Yes. And not cheating." Like Karla would need to cheat to find Leda. Leda was not exactly Ms. Stealth in the woods.

Karla just smirked and turned away to count. "One...two...three..."

Leda managed to actually not make any noise as she ran, maybe it was genetic for elves or something. But she wasn't able to conceal her trail. Not that she thought too much about it, city girl that she was.

Karla wasn't great at tracking through the woods, but you didn't play hide and seek with Jaenelle and kindred wolves without picking up something. And it wasn't like Leda was trying to hide her trail or anything. Which probably meant she was up to something tricksy. Karla pulled up the sight shield again--no sense in letting Leda know she was nearby if she didn't have to--and tried to follow the trail through mundane means. She could pick up Leda's psychic scent if (or probably when) the real trail petered out.

Leda wasn't afraid of getting dirty, or of bugs or anything, so she'd dropped to her stomach to wriggle her way through the bushes, actually doubling back.

Karla silently glided forward, noting things like broken brush and matted down groundcover, and displaced foliage. It did take her a few minutes to realize that the trail didn't keep going forward. She retraced her steps until she saw the place where Leda had taken to the underbrush.

"Clever little elf, aren't you?" she murmured.

She was actually. Even if her usual habitat was urban, she could improvise.

Of course, part of her wanted Karla to find her, so it was anyone's guess as to how hard she was trying to really stay hidden.
