The Valley Campfire: Monday Afternoon

After classes, Layla settled down outside of her cabin and began making her own version of s'mores which involved a jar of marshmallow fluff, chocolate syrup and graham crackers.

As far as she was concerned it was just as tasty, had the required stickiness and as a bonus she didn't have to start a fire.

After work, Alex wandered back to her cabin. She spotted Layla sitting outside and smiled.

"What have you got there?"

"... I guess that's one way to make s'mores," Elle said as she watched Layla.

"Makeshift s'more," Layla replied as she licked her fingers. "All the mess. None of the work."

"It's supposed to be in the 80's today," Layla said as she started to make another one. "I'd rather do without another source of heat. Want one?"

"Yes, please," Elle said as she took a seat.

Layla handed over the jar of marshmallow fluff and a plastic spoon. "It's a bit messy. Though I've got handwipes when you need them," she replied. "I'm Layla Miller. I know stuff."

[Okay for Layla to "know" about Elle?]

"I don't mind messy," Elle said as she started setting one up for herself. "I'm Elle Bishop. I don't know stuff."

"Good to know," Layla commented. "I would have hated for you to lose your head once things got sticky."

"Sticky's fun sometimes," Elle said, finishing her s'more and balancing it on her knee as she handed the jar back to Layla.

"I don't know why Elle," Layla said with a smirk, "but for some reason I find that absolutely shocking."

Elle tensed for a split second before grinning. "That's me," she said cheerfully. "Shocking."

"I bet," Layla said biting into her s'more and having it ooze everywhere. "So are you enjoying summer camp so far? I love it. I get a real charge out of meeting new people."

Elle eyed Layla suspiciously as she said, "Yeah, it's okay so far."

Robin smelled chocolate and wandered over to see what was up. "Hi! I'm Robin, are you one of the new students?"

"Hey Alex." Robin waved. "How's the Magic Box?"

"Camping for the lazy?" Effy asked dryly, finding a log to sit on.

"How are your classes so far?" Layla asked as she licked her fingers. "Current-ly I'm taking How to be Awesome and Life's Little Quirks."

"I've got Ethics and Etiquette, Photography, Life's Little Quirks, and Practical Weaponry," Elle said. "The one I've had so far was... interesting."

"Oh?" Layla asked as she took another bite. "Why is that?"

"We had to sing our introductions," Elle said. "I'm kind of wondering if one of the teachers is insane."

"That and I don't want that guy with the bumpy forehead lecturing me about fire safety," Layla replied with a smirk.

"That's a pretty good bet," Layla replied. "What did you sing for yours? Electric slide?"

Almost had to admire Worf for apparently getting to all the new kids on their very first day.

Almost.

"Apparently I'm a fire hazard, just for being me," she said. This was possibly true. Effy liked fire, damn it.
