The Valley Campfire: Monday Afternoon

After classes, Layla settled down outside of her cabin and began making her own version of s'mores which involved a jar of marshmallow fluff, chocolate syrup and graham crackers.

As far as she was concerned it was just as tasty, had the required stickiness and as a bonus she didn't have to start a fire.

After work, Alex wandered back to her cabin. She spotted Layla sitting outside and smiled.

"What have you got there?"

"Makeshift s'more," Layla replied as she licked her fingers. "All the mess. None of the work."

"Nice," Alex grinned, clearly approving. "I like the way you think."

"I'm an innovator," she admitted. "I'm Layla Miller, by the way. I know stuff."

"I'm Alex Russo," Alex replied. "What kind of stuff?" Hey, as she'd learned with Fandom, that could mean anything.

"Hey Alex." Robin waved. "How's the Magic Box?"

"Hey Robin," Alex smiled, returning the wave. "It's good. I've been keeping tabs on some charms and spell books mostly."

"Anything spooky?"

"There were a couple spells I found that could kind of be called spooky, depending on the individual casting them," Alex explained. "Other than that, not yet. But, I'll definitely let you know if I find more."

"... I guess that's one way to make s'mores," Elle said as she watched Layla.

"It's supposed to be in the 80's today," Layla said as she started to make another one. "I'd rather do without another source of heat. Want one?"

"Yes, please," Elle said as she took a seat.

Layla handed over the jar of marshmallow fluff and a plastic spoon. "It's a bit messy. Though I've got handwipes when you need them," she replied. "I'm Layla Miller. I know stuff."

Robin smelled chocolate and wandered over to see what was up. "Hi! I'm Robin, are you one of the new students?"

"Camping for the lazy?" Effy asked dryly, finding a log to sit on.

"That and I don't want that guy with the bumpy forehead lecturing me about fire safety," Layla replied with a smirk.

Almost had to admire Worf for apparently getting to all the new kids on their very first day.

Almost.

"Apparently I'm a fire hazard, just for being me," she said. This was possibly true. Effy liked fire, damn it.

"Don't put it on yourself," Layla said with a sigh. "The boy-alien has issues. By the way I'm Layla Miller. I know stuff. Faux-S'more?"

Valentine decided to take a break from reading, and went to go find a campfire to...well, camp out at, and enough people seemed to be gathering around this one to give it a try. She figured it could make an interesting conversation piece in the right circumstances.

She took a seat, sending a general wave to the collected mass.

"Thinking of using your family connections to get ahead?" Layla joked as she tried to remove some fluff from her hands.

Well, it's worked for her so far, hasn't it? Valentine arched an eyebrow before glancing down at the book. "If it's a natural tendency of humanity to be nepotistic, might as well, right?"

"What about those who can't get by on family?" Layla smirked. "Are we just left out in the cold? Or do we forge new familial bonds?"
